i dont think hamed would rate top 5; Pep, Sadler, Arguello,Sanchez,Saldivar I think occupy those spots, I do agree with britpack that he was the hardest punching feather of all time. Theres no doubt in my mind the top five guys would have handily defeated him, but when it comes to pure punching power hamed was magnificent No one berfore or after hit as hard.

jesus, I forgot about Armstrong. He would have beaten the top five I mentioned all in the same month. the ting that affects his ranking is the fact tha the didnt stay at feather long after winning the title. but i guess thats a whole different topic.

yeah i agree with theone here.(i know you've probably spit your beer out in shock)hardest punching with naseem but i'd struggle to get him in the top 10.best would be armstrong for me.followed by saddler, pep and sanchez.if someone does a featherweight top 10 thread i'll really give it some thought.

it seems he was there for approx 6 years.but he'd only just won the world title when he went to welter then to light to pick up the world titles.looks like he packed a decent wallop at this weight as well.has anyone seen armstrong in action at feather?any info would be appreciated.

In his best year as a feather weight he went an amazing 27-0 with 26ko's!
No question he was one of the 3 greatest fighters ever p4p.

Too many fighters get remembered at the wrong weight.
Naz does not deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Henry Armstrong.
What did Naz do, and who did he fight?
Old-men and lighter-fighters.
Never once did he mention stepping up the xtra 4lb but called out the old names below himself.
Imagine if he`d stepped up to meet Mayweather at junior lightweight?? an old Kevin Kelly almost did him and a young Mayweather would have made it look so onesided.

Terry McGovern...George "KO" Chaney...Danny Lopez...Sandy Saddler...Aurelio Herrera...Naseem Hamed...Henry Armstrong...The featherweight division has a pretty long list of knockout artists...Overall, I'd probably choose KO Chaney as #1 at 126.

Chalky Wright was a great puncher whose often overlooked today. Azumaha Nelson and Bobby Chacon are another two who deserve mention I think...

Danny is the probably the hardest hitter I've ever seen. At any weight. I remember him just tappping these guys and they would just collapse in a heap.

We keep bringing up Danny Lopez here as such a hard hitter. I liked him and watched his career and most of his fights and never really felt that way. I think he could bang no doubt in fact I think he and Hamed may be similar in that ability. So he was up there but just not with the rest of the names we are mentioning on this thread.
Did anyone here see his first fight with Octavio Gomez? I'm just curious, it is this fight that has somewhat defined Danny for me. And it puts him short of greatness just like Hamed falls short. IMVHO.
He did avenge it nicely. Maybe there is some history about this fight that someone is aware of . If so I'd like to hear more about it.
Hard Punching Featherweights

Some other highly regarded punchers in the featherweight
division include Harold Hoshino and Jimmy Dime. Hoshino
was crude, but had dynamite in his right hand.

I forgot about Jimmy Dime...seems he mostly gets remembered for managing rather than his own fighting career. Hamed is one of the hardest one punch hitters that I have ever seen and he most certainly should be right up there with the legends of the division in terms of hitting ability!

anyone mention Henry Armstrong?????

Hamed's power is just as overrated as his skills. All myth, he was OK when KOing bums and has-beens, couldn't do it with any guy with an ounce of boxing ability. McCullough said he had been hit a lot harder in other fights than what Naz threw. And Wayne is one of the easiest guys in boxing to nail cleanly.

>>>And Wayne is one of the easiest guys in boxing to nail cleanly<<<
It's funny, no one else was able to knockout McCullough including Erik Morales and several others that landed flush clean shots, so that most certainly is nothing that Hamed didn't stop him...as no one else could either...except a ref. If you look over Hamed's roster of opponents and all you see is bums and has-beens, then you need to do a lot, and I do mean a lot, more reading and watching films!

Hamed could punch and should be on a list of top FW punchers. Naz just couldn't land a clean shot against MAB and never went for broke. If you ahve that kind of punch and self-belief (that he claime to have) then I imagined him really going for it in the late rounds when he was obviously so far behind on points. Naz just did nothing. He didn't go for broke but just seemed to accept his defeat.

Why is it so laughable? have you ever seen Hamed fight? Obviously not. You can question his skill all day and I'll agree with you but to question his power is downright silly.

So why was it that when Naz finally met someone decent like MBA, he was totally useless. And MAB has been stopped previously. This myth of Wayne is fair enough. I know the guy had a granite chin as a Bantam and superbantam, but he moved to Feather to fight Naz and all the so called experts were saying how Naz hit like a Welter. I don't care how tough a chin is, if the stories of the Prince's power were to be believed, even Wayne would have been KO'd....he Ko'd bums most of his career. If he had of done this to any decent opposition apart from a washed up Kelley, I'd give him some praise.......
