Prime Mike Tyson VS Prime Rocky Marciano

ive been thinking of some mythical matchups and i dont beleive ive seen this one.. who do you guys think would win this one?.. a prime mike tyson is scary, but he never faced a guy like rocky.. rocky had alot of courage and would be there punching tyson with his best in the later rounds... they both had unbeleivable punching power.. who do you guys think wins a fight between a prime mike tyson and a prime rocky marciano?

IMO rocky will be able to stick with tyson, and slowly take command of the fight because he is a smarter fighter... im not sure if he can KO tyson but if he does its in the 13-15 round area (considering it is a 15 round fight) but if there is no KO ill take rocky by a ravor thin margin.. something like - 8-7 8-7 9-6

Jesus, I know this is going to be very unpopular but i cant imagine rocky lasting more than a round with tyson. Tyson is basically a bigger stronger and faster vesion of the rock. No contest.

Rory, this has already been done and it's a few pages down the road. Do a search check and you'll find it. There were some good discussions on this topic.

How, exactly, would Tyson accomplish this?

I've always thought that Tyson would win by TKO. I think that Marciano's face would get cut up badly and the ref would have to stop the fight in the middle rounds. If Marciano could get Tyson to the later rounds I think he would win either by late KO or a close UD. A prime Tyson for the first 6 rounds or so of a fight is one of the greatest fighters to ever step into the ring and his combination of speed and power can overwhelm any fighter early on. Rock could win if he gets into the second half of the fight, but his tendency to get cut and Tyson's brutal punches lead me to believe a fight stoppage would occur in the middle rounds.

theone, tyson doesnt have the toughness, heart, and stamina of the rock, and rocky can hit just as hard.

what makes u think tyson can take one of rockys punches????

everyone thinks rockys not effective in the early rounds which is bullshit,
rocky knocked out many fighters in the early rounds and most of them were victims of his deadly overhand right.

i do think its a bad style matchup for rocky and I think tyson would take him out early. but in a rematch, i see rocky knocking him out. rocky is one of the hardest fighters to beat twice in a row.

everyone rocky fought in rematches he beat them easily

Everybody forgets or overlooks one thing about Marciano; he was not a "lean forward" fighter like Frazier or Tyson or most aggressive boxers. He tended to keep his weight back- he was a big rt hand hitter- and thus his head and torso as well. To get at the good stuff you have to risk that right hand and when he hit Tyson with it- then it would be a fight and I think the Rock would ko him within 3.

What do you mean how? Easy. Tyson was a great finisher in his prime, Rocky was easy to hit. Once down he could never weather the onslaught of Tyson if he were to beat the count. 2nd, Tyson was a bigger more powerful man. Rocky was fighting at 185 pounds most of the time. He never faced anyone who had the power or quickness of Tyson in his prime. It would really be a lopsided short fight. IMHO Sorry Rocky....... :box: :box: :TU:

rocky was easy to hit????

u dont know much about him then. he crossed his arms and made himself a very small target, he was very hard to hit with a clean punch. rocky blocked the body punches with his elbows. marciano had very underated defense. he was able to outpoint a masterboxer in charles over 15 rounds.

o yah ringsider, tyson never faced anyone like the rock :TU:

whats tyson gonna do when he has this rock standing in front of him battering him to the arms, ribs, and everywhere on his body.

I wouldn't say that Marciano was easy to hit, but I would say he got hit a lot, which is different. Any short, short armed pressure fighter is going to get it a lot because he is always in range, or within their range and trying to get within his. In this fight it might be the first time the Rock had a guy come at him

Now here is beauty of a quote by tireoldngrey;
I wouldn't say that Marciano was easy to hit, but I would say he got hit a lot, which is different.
Which when fighting Mike Tyson in HIS prime would be a death sentence for Marciano.

You might want to change to tiredoldngreyngoingsenile.

why do u think marciano is so overmatched????

u think tyson can take rockys punches?????

tyson would get battered by rocky on the inside. tyson has to stay on the outside or he gets knocked out.

tyson never faced anyone like marciano or a guy who hit as hard as rocky. marciano would not be intimidated by him at all, and would keep pressuring tyson and hit him hard and would outphysical mike and who knows how mike can deal with a guy like that. he might crumble.

ringsider, how is it so hard to believe marciano would beat tyson.

were not tlaking about pinklon thomas and trevor berbick.

were talking about marciano, and hes considered one of the greatest heavyweight champions of all time

but judging from some of ur posts in the past, i realize u dont think highly of marciano. so trying to educate u will be like talking to a tree.

Ezzard Charles, past his prime mind you, and weighing no more than 190lbs went toe to toe with the rock for 15 rounds. In the rematch he was doing the same before he got knocked out and managed to split the rocks nose in half.
Can you imagine what Tyson would do to him? Marciano would get utterly destroyed by Tyson. TKO1

why do u think marciano is so overmatched????

Tysons bigger, faster, stronger,meaner.

u think tyson can take rockys punches?????

Why not? last i checked the rock didnt knockout everyone he fought, and those he did werent all knocked out by one punch. And the rock never, ever faced an opponent the size and strenght of Tyson.

marciano faced men bigger than tyson, check the stats. they may have not been as good as tyson but marciano faced men a lot bigger than tyson.

u still didnt answer my question, what makes u think tyson can take rockys punch when he gets hit and he will get hit.

tyson meaner????? what makes u say that, marciano was a pretty mean guy in the ring.

tyson is not much stronger than marciao.

marciano has a better chin, hits just as hard, has better stamina, has more heart, attacks the body just as much, and is very underated in defense.

u saw what happened to tyson when holyfield walked through his punches and showed he wasnt intimidated. i know mike tyson wasnt the same mike tyson, but it makes u wonder if guys that stood up to tyson and punched back could frustrate tyson into quitting. and holyfield wasnt as good as marciano.

marciano was one of the meanest fighters in the ring hitting his opponens everywhere. when tyson gets hit all over his body and marcianos still in there banging away and only getting stronger. will tyson collapse and quit????

No one built as powerfully as tyson existed in boxing until sonny Liston hit the scene.

this is true but marciano didnt get to face pretend contenders like "bonecrusher" smith or trevor berbick. ezzard might have been smaller and past his prime, but part of being a great fighter is the ability to take a punch and to make the other guy miss and ezzard was still a great fighter.

no

big bill wilson 6'3 229 lb
jerry jackson 6'4 254 lb
pat connely 6'5 213 lb
johnny skor 6'3 220lb
carmina vingo 6'4 190
joe louis 6'2 215lb
etc

and remember tyson is only 5'10 so height should be taken into considereation.

but why does size mean so much??? it doesnt.

rocky probably was just as strong as tyson.
