Does anybody know what Big Daddy Bowe is up to? Last I heard was that he wanted to keep very active like the comebacking George Foreman did? Is he still having trouble getting licensed?

It's all gone a bit quiet.

I am guessing he realised he doesnt have it anymore after that shit showing against Zumbrun.

Fingers crossed he's packed it in, or has been forced to. Absolutely nothing to give to boxing at this stage (other than a black eye).

He went out for a pint of milk three weeks ago.

I don't know if you got the Bowe-Zumbrum fight in the UK but Bowe looked like crap and was almost ko'd in the 5th. I think he saw the replay and realised it was time to pack it in.

Yes we did get it in the UK and I agree Bowe looked shot to pieces.

I have a horrible feeling we will see him back in the ring though.

I just hope he doesn't get in there with someone who is a dangerous puncher.

Other then some of the light hitting Americans (Sykes, Nolan, Chambers) I don't see him going the distance with anyone in the boxrec top 50.

Well he's either working his arse off to get his weight down, or he's bloated to fornicate and 300 lbs or higher. I'd say the latter is more likely.

You have to ask the question of what is he hoping to achieve out of this comeback? Does he have a Holyfield style delusion that he will once again reign supreme? Maybe he is trying make a few extra pennies or probably he doesn't know what to do with his life. If he is going to make his way back to the top then he has to fight somebody even remotely dangerous at some point i.e. a puncher

He has already stated in an interview that he boxing to find some purpose in his life, he apparently is financially secure, and he surely must know he has no chance whatsoever of winning a title even in todays shit scene.

Bowe seems to have been a bit of a lost soul since he first left Boxing, simular to our own Frank Bruno (and many other Boxers) infact.

It's all about identity they define themselves as fighters then when they are not fighters anymore they struggle to figure out who and what they are anymore.

It's no wonder is it? Many boxers have never acquired other skills in their life to fall back on, so at the age of 35 find themselves without anything to do. Even if they are well off, this is going to leave a massive hole.

Bowe must have been boxing in one form or another since the age of 16, nearly 20 years of training, and all the attention from the team that goes with it.

It's similar to people who are in prison and become institutionalised, it must be amazingly hard to adjust to a life without fame. attention and the routine which accompanies the sport.

I wonder why more fighters aren't brought into the fold to train young fighters, surely this would give them the connection with boxing and a purpose, maybe some don't want to, but maybe there are other reasons?
