Congrats to Kevin Mitchell who was voted British Young Boxer of the Year by the boxing writers club.
I know he has some fans on here, and quite a few people who want to see him get beat as well.
I'm kind of in the middle, i think he has real talent and can go along way in the sport, but don't like the show boating when he knows he has an opponent beat.

Who exactly has he beaten in the last year? John Murray would have been a good vote, he actually went to the US and fought out of the comfort zone. Mitchell stayed at home and beat up superbantams whoopee doooooo.

Andy Morris would have been a good call as well, fights for a british title next

Mitchell is a bully. When he fights someone who punches back, he'll be fucked.

To be fair to Mitchell he did beat hardnut Mounir Guebbas more convincingly than Murray.

Kevin Anderson's win over Glenn McClarnon and Tony Doherty's win over Taz Jones are probably the best wins from the young boxers.

I thought Anderson deserved it.

Well done Kev. seen this lad box since he was 11 years old and he is a super talent.
Not lost a round in his pro carreer so far, I'm sure he will be stepped up gradually this season and certain he will rise to the occassion the higher the level of opposition.

Just stating what i saw, Murray is a good prospect, i'd put him and Mitchell about even so far. Although i feel Mitchell has more natural talent he just needs to step up the competition

Janes should have been disqualified for that dreadful butt in the first round, with no warning should have just been thrown out, it was disgraceful.

Mitchell is a talent, but as normal us Brits have got to find something to hate about a prospect rather than just enjoy him for what he is, a good young kid with loads of potential

I do absolutely agree with that, couldn't understand why Janes did that when doing so well.

Agree on Mitchell aswell, very good prospect.

"a good young kid"? By many accounts I've heard, he's a nasty little prick outside of the ring.

Not the times I have seen him, always come across as pleasant enough, completely different to the arrogance he shows in the ring

Would also say out of the young boxers except for Golden Boy Khan, Kevin would have had the most inches in the written media and as it's the Boxing Writers Awards

Lets hope for big things from Mitchell this next year, he definitely has potential but he's had enough one sided fights now he needs more competitive action.

He's 21 next month. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a shot at the English title early next year now that Morris has vacated it to go for the British title, unless he's going to stay at Super-feather where the title is vacant anyway

There was talk of him going for the Southern Area title not so long ago.

Yes against Bowden, but Bowden decided to hang up his gloves, wouldn't be surprised if David Bailey gets a shot at the Southern Area against Mitchell either.
