Reginald 'Snowy' Baker. Represented Australia in several sports. Diving, swimming, boxing (silver medal - 1908 with his opponent's father as the ref ) and played a few other sports at the top level. Different era in sports but an excellent achievement nonetheless

Indeed I do. Fogarty also turned up on Emmerdale Farm a few years ago playing a Fireman.

Michael Grant was either scouted or had a tryout with the Kansas City Royals. He also excelled in basketball and football. Renaldo Snipes was supposedly a pretty good high school basketball player. And of course, I think we all know about Roy Jones Jr, who once said he'd beat Michael Jordan in a game of one on one.

Jack O'Halloran and Charlie Powell were both pro football players. O'Halloran fought some pretty tough guys and retired Ali's brother. Powell was a tough heavy who lost to Ali.

Acutally, it was 10 seconds, not 11. Pretty impressive when one considers this was way before vitamin supplements, steroids or Nike Air.
Jeffries was gifted in Track & Field and wrestling in addition to boxing. The main reason he chose boxing was because that's where the money was to be made. Had he lived today, he'd likely a chosen something else.

Yeah most likely football.

He was probably the best natural athlete of all of the HW champs. And I think he is underrated as a fighter by todays fight fans and media as well.

To Tall Jones was a pretty good football player. American football that is.

He was a VERY good football player. Of course, he wasn't a fighter. He TRIED boxing. I think this thread is "Boxers who were good in other sports".

When Anthony Mundine stopped playing Rugby to start Boxing at 25yo he was the highest paided player in the game.

great team, the Chicago Cubs, before quitting as
the manager of the latter team in 1905 after coming
down with tuberculosis. The Cubs went on to capture
four National League pennants and two World Series
title during a five-year period from 1906 to 1910,
losing only one National League pennant to the
Pittsburgh Pirates in 1909 during that period.
Selee promoted at least one boxing card before
passing away due to tuberculosis in 1909.

As a boxing promoter in Salt Lake City during
the 1910s, Hardy Downing staged a number
of Jack Dempsey's bouts. Before becoming
a boxing promoter, Downing was a professional
bicycle racer while residing in San Jose.

i found an article in chicago daily tribune on july 14, 1907 about frank selee and his pueblo boxing organization - but that's all i found - do you have more info? thanks

I found an item about Frank Selee promoting a boxing
card in the Los Angeles Times a long time ago, but only
committed it to memory. But the the historical version
of the Los Angeles Times is on the internet complete
with a search engine and can be accessed at some
libraries.
