I am reading yet another book on the great Joe Louis and there are a few quotes about Louis from Jack Dempsey non of which are very complimentary towards the great Brown Bomber. This lead me to thinking was there any 'issues' between these two great Heavyweight?

Or for Dempsey was it just as is often the case, a matter of "Fighters were much better in my era"?

Any thoughts fight fans?

thats james j braddock there tauntum.

and braddock and louis loved each other so i dont think the pciture sums it all up

..i haven't read the comments in question Re: dempsey about louis. I do have a recording of dempsey on radio in which he says about louis, "I'm glad i never had to play tag with that baby."

can you giove the source of the dempsey statement about the bomber? i'd like to read it.

A friend of mine was a close friend of Dempsey and next time I see him I shall ask him if he was aware of anything. Funny thing is spoke with him yesterday about Dempsey..small world eh
