I must say, I agree with this list. Tyson was the biggest conqueror in HW history. Even though he's # 8, Tyson woulda KO'd alot of these guys into the next world. In the 1980s, he's the ultimate example of aggressiveness.

it's not HW list .. they only have Ali and Louis before him .. so it'l make Mike third. Tired of seeing Ali the Hu(g)i in that damn first place.. Lennox would have beaten the shit out of him .. overrated

I dont think Lennox would do sh** except get KOd by Ali.Why?Octopus with a soft chin.Tyson would have beat the crap out of Lewis in 96-97.

Thats why he paid out money rather than fight Lewis?

Tyson's opposition was too weak and his prime far too short. He never avenged any of his losses, and all but one of those were upsets.
People say he is the youngest heavyweight champ in history, but that's only if you count the alphabet belts, something historians don't.
In any case, Tyson was the youngest champ to lose the title. Big difference.
Tyson a top 10 heavyweight of all time in terms of ring greatness? Not a chance.
Tyson a top 10 heavyweight of all time in terms of hype and entertainment value? Absolutley.
Don't confuse the two.

Cultus, did you bump your head while drinking outta the toilet again?
Ali would have made mince-meat outta Lewis by jabbing, moving, and hitting him hard, fast and continously.

I feel sick after reading this, the only HW that EVER faught that stood a chance w/ a prime Ali is Joe Louis.

Pre rape Tyson perhaps, 96-97 Tyson no way Lewis would have manhandled him like Holyfield did in 97.

The above was the sound of SockD opening up a can of worms.

I say Tyson's ability to fight was great definitely.
But his overall greatness is not top ten.
Yes I think in his prime he would knock out most heavyweights.
But a top ten heavyweight of all time doesn't bite people in the ring.

Pound for pound.....
Mayweather over Monzon? Hamed over Benitez and Wilfredo Gomez?

Ok. Tyson should be in the top ten. Somewhere around #8 or #9, only due to a lack of consistant solid opposition. By the time the better fighters came along, Tyson was still very dangerous, but he was locked up. The early to mid nineties would have been Mike's marker of greatness, but he was out of commission. By the time he came back, he was faded, and the division had gone on without him. He never got his chance to shine against the 90's greats. Either way, his dominance was proven in the 80's and he should be somewhere in the top ten. Now can we let that dude rest in peace.
IMO,

Er... Joe Frazier beat Ali in his prime. I'd call that 'standing a chance'

.. ok ... ok a bit overstated.. but im so tired of the hype. Ali here and Ali there...talk about how he constantly holds, hugs, holds behind a head ect.. typical coming of John Ruiz... Anyways he had no power.. Lennox was fast enough to keep Ali at bay with his better reach n'power .. all Ali's fights are boring.. even the old one's before the layoff. just my oppinion.. noone won't agree cose your all old people from the "bad old" times ..

Tyson is good but cannot be considered great, because he never overcame adversity like Joe Louis, Ali, Jack Johnson or even Frazier and Foreman did. When he lost to Douglas, he was finished as an elite fighter. Although he won fights after that, he never responded to that setback like a great fighter would, using it as motivation to return to his past glory. He was great for entertainment value, but he spent the last 15 years of his career languishing as a top twenty heavyweight at best.

Look if you are going to talk about Fraizer why not talk about Norton? Ali was beaten by them, but any person who knows anything about boxing history would tell you that the 2 greatest HWs are Louis and Ali, most putting Ali first. Im sure Lennox would have put up a fight, but if you think he would have won, or god forbid think he is better than you are mistakin my good man.

True but misleading. Frazier beat Ali after Ali's long layoff when he was stripped of his title for resisting the draft. Ali had fought a couple of tune-ups, but had not fought elite competition, and was rusty. Unlike Tyson, he avenged that loss twice. The third Ali-Frazier fight (the Thrilla in Manilla) is widely considered the best heavyweight bout of all time.

Yes, Tyson gasping for breath as he stumbles forward towards Ali. Ali grabs him behind the head and spins around him, landing a swift 3 punch combination. Tyson, breathing heavily walks slowly towards Ali trying to clinch for some rest, but as he gets close to him, Ali lands a 1-2 followed by 2 left hooks and a straight right. Tyson loses his balance and lurches forward, crashing to the canvas. As he looks up at the ref through swollen eyes, he hears the count reach 8.. 9.. 10. He made no effort to rise. Ali by KO in about the 9th or 10th round.
Even a past his prime Ali like the one from Ali-Frazier III would have been able to craft a fightplan to beat Tyson. He certainly would have fought a bit differently than he did against Frazier, and it would not have been an easy fight, but he would have taken the fight out of Tyson the same way he did Liston and Foreman.
