Greg Page vs Vitali Klitschko. What If?

How would big Vitali Klitschko cope if a peak Greg Page was around today? Would Klitschko be too big and strong on the inside and dominate Page on the outside with his long stiff jab.
Or would Page be too fast and cute for the robotic Klitschko and dismantle him like he did Coetzee?
Vitali Klitschko.

I'll go with this ending. While Klit is a bit more skilled than Coezee, at his best he was VERY fast and could punch a bit as well. Certainly faster than anyone Klit has ever seen.

Depends on which Greg shows up.If Greg comes in at over 225, unmotivated, then Vitali would beat him on decision. But if Greg shows up under 225, highly motivated, then he would eat Vitali up alive, UD 12, maybe late round stoppage.

The premise is PEAK Greg Page.

That's the thing, when was he at his peak? I'm guessing around 83-85

Page may have been fast but I remember him losing to a 1980s version Joe Bugner. Bugner outboxed him and won it with the jab.
At that time, Greg was shot, though not taking anything from Bugner, he beat Bonecrusher also.

When exactly has Klitschko EVER fought on the inside?
Page could come in heavy about 238 like he did Coetzee. It was his mind frame not his body shape that would depend on his performance.
Page has mixed which much better competition amateur & pro and the Page who played with Coetzee in South Africa would have an easy time with Klitschko who has had his hands full with two 40 yr old heavies between blowing out 2 blobs who didnt fight back.

Greg Page lost decisions to Berbick, Witherspoon, Tubbs, Douglas, and Bey... All during his supposed "prime".
Overhand, do you expect Page to outpoint Vitali, or knock him out? Cuts stoppage perhaps? I might be able to agree with a cuts stoppage, but I can't imagine a decision, or KO... At this point, anyways. We'll see what happens next month. :)

Page had some talent but I think he's getting a bit too much loving... He was an unmotivated slob who was involved in some of the greatest borefests of the 1980s. Whatever you think about Vitali he is motivated and focused. I think he beats Page on points or late stoppage.

It all depends on which Greg shows up, and that a big if factor here.

When exactly did
I say Klitschko EVER FOUGHT on the inside?
Overhand, you seemed to have cut my sentance in half to fit your response, but I am sure that was not your intention.
What I asked (not necessarily my opinion) was "
Would Klitschko be too big and strong on the inside and dominate Page on the outside with his long stiff jab."
As in too big, strong and well conditioned so he could outmuscle, smother etc etc Page on the inside and nullify Pages inside work? I never mentioned when, how or when Klitschko fought on the inside or how good he was in this department.

Vitali isn't great but he makes the best of what talent he's got. Boxing has its share of mediocre champs. I think that's fair enough.
Vitali has some pride in being champion and always looks interested. At times Page just seemd to jiggle about and throw as few punches as possible. Page had the talent but not the application.
To me being HW champion is as good as it gets. I want the champ to at least looks like he means business. Page's attitude still bothers me today.

Truthfully, I think that may be what's hurting him when people ask for help in his cause.

Sorry.Ezzard, basically what I was saying is that when people look at his situation today as concerning his injury, they may think back on his career and how it unfolded. He did screw up a lot of years being overweight and unmotivated, and of all the heavies of that time period, was probably the most talented.Several people may feel that, " hey, why should I help this guy when he squandered it away.". I can understand your comment about his attitude, it was ridiculous.

If Klitschko was hassled, abused and routinely underpaid by his promoter/maanager/task master to the point where he was fighting for chump change then he would also have a lot of on & off performances just like Page.
Page at his best had endless natural talent whereas Klitschko has shown none. Hes just a big awkward strong guy whos ruling over a dead division.
If Page was around today he would be untouchable.
The people who criticise Page, Tubbs, Witherspoon etc are complete hypocrites there is no way they would give 100% to a job as painful as boxing if they were not getting paid.

True, but Page has had bad habits since the beginning of his pro career.
