Just checked the Boxrec schedule under title fight - some interesting dates are out for these unconfirmed fights.

12 November - surely has been confirmed.

Samil Sam vs Oleg Maskaev - Eliminator for the #1 WBC contendor.

18th November.

Stripe Dews vs Pietr Aurino for vacant European Light Heavyweight title - Matthew Barney and Peter Oboh might be interested in this one.

November 26th - Leverkusen

Masselino Massoe vs Felix Sturm - WBA Middleweight title.

Now it gets really interesting.

12th December on Sky Sports, in England.

DAVID HAYE vs ALEXANDER GUROV - EBU Cruiserweight title.

17th, December in Germany.
John Ruiz vs Nicolai Valuev - WBA Heavyweight title.

17th Decemeber in Chigago
Humberto Soto vs TBA (Cook?) WBC Featherweight title (Interim).

Cook is down to fight Voronin a month beforehand, so I doubt we'll see him in against Soto on that date.

I did wonder (and ask) at the time - I'm miffed at what's going on with the WBC feather title. I still don't know how Chi picked up this career-threatening injury (if he did? maybe I'm wrong?) Anyway, he is apparently ready to go again, so I would have thought Chi-Soto would have made sense (a la Klitchko-Rahman) but as Stu has picked up this looks like what should be Cook's opening v Soto just for the interim title.

(I've now just seen states' post whihc reminded me of that defence, so fair enough.)

There have been purseoffers today for two WBA fights.
At welter for the fight between Collazo & Urkal Don King won with a bet of $460.000 while Sauerland bit $261.000
At Feater MTM promotions won the bid for Chris John vs JM Marquez with a bid of $125.000, JMM will get 25% of the purse.

Also Vic Darchinyan vs Damean Kelly on november 25th, Also in the featherweight division, Brahim Asloum challenges Lorenzo Parra for the WBA belt on december 5th

The was the 2nd purseoffer, no one bid the first time. This time on MTM (John's people) bid the minimumbid.

Amazing that the best featherweight in the world ends up in that situation.

Crickey - it would have made good sence for a British promoter to go for this fight just to drum up interest for a possible showdown. Matchroom for Cook and Sports Network for Harrison.

It would have sold out at least the York Hall by itself.

Speaking to a knowledgable guy from the other side of the pond, he was not surprised by the Marquez purse bid. Why? Cause given Marquez' history he won't take this (or any other fight) for less than $500,000

This means that the purse bid would have to be around the $2 milion mark for Marquez to be happy with his side of the deal. It won't make that kind of money - so the fight basically won't happen. He wasn't surprised there was low interest and only a small bid - because even John's promoters know its not going to happen.

Ruiz Vs Valuev in Germany, I reckon this could be the end of Ruiz's reign and I hope it is. Valuevs size intrigues me and I'm looking forward to seeing him in with the top boys to see how they negate his reach and its always good to see a 7 footer hit the deck

I cannot see how Oleg Maskaev is so highly rated , yes he has a punch, but he has also been knocked out in all 5 of his losses, the last ranked fighter he beat was Derrick Jefferson and that was in 2000

I was in the arena for the Bango Vs Valuev fight and he looked good , decent power though bit like Primo Carnera should be hitting harder for his considerable weight. Bango landed some good shots , shots that might have knocked down a lot of heavyweights and he didnt look as if he felt them. Scary , same happened vs Vidoz. Valuev will never beat someone who can jab and move , he does not have the adaptability or speed to handle that kind of opponent. Ruiz will play straight into Valuev's hands- being straight in front of him.

Its worrying that Valuevs chin is rock solid, but as you say Valuevs speed is what will let him down against certain fighters (cough Audley), to beat Valuev you need to Get in, get em off and get out ( I think I've just stumbled across my new chat up line ) and nick the rounds

is the sturm fight a WBA belt that taylor gave up or is it from the WBA super champ rubbish?

Taylor gave up the IBF belt. This is for the "regular" belt.

Sure will be, i also like the look of Collazo-Urkal, not sure how much Urkal has left and Collazo is on a decent run of form, can see the end of Oktay Urkal coming close.

Sauerland uses Nikolai so thats probably the correct spelling.

Think it has come a little late, although I heard it was the judges who gave Urkal a tough time in his last fight. Cannot remember the opponent, but on the cards he eeked out a close decision, I heard it wasn't really close.

He should have been champion already, he definately beat Harris in match one (wasn't even close), I still not convinced with Collazo, but think its come a little late for Urkal.
