Is he really a champion? I know he holds one of the current HW titles, but he was given the title after a win over a fat semi-retired golfer and there are a bunch of other guys who also claim to be HW champ.
I really have a hard time considering all of these alphabet titleholders of the past 25 years when it comes to championship records and accomplishments. While Willard wasn't exactly one of the great HWs of all time, at least he beat a champion and was regarded as the true HW champ of the world. Perhaps if VK beats one of the other current pretenders then we can forget about old Jess. But until then I'll still consider him as the tallest HW champion.

I had too much to drink that morning -- and hey, I was 115 years old.

..i go along with john l......though vitali may someday get full recognition as world champ, he isn't there yet....so willard at 6' 6 1/4/" still holds that distinction. i think i did a post on this somewhere...but sometimes i think i'm the king of spain so i'm not positive.

by Primo Carnera
In 1934, 6' 5 1/2", 270 lbs. Primo Carnera beat 186 lb. Tommy Loughran for the World Heavy Weight championship.
Unbelievable, Loughran gave up almost 100 pounds!
