Mayorga next for Oscar? Oscar De La Hoya apparently has settled on Ricardo Mayorga as his next opponent, according to published reports.
De La Hoya, who earlier had revealed plans to fight May 6 and Sept. 16 of next year, had discussed a rematch with Fernando Vargas. But he decided Mayorga would make the best show.
"He's so aggressive and crazy," De La Hoya said, "it would be a big motivation to me to try to beat him."

There goes the Light-Middleweights unification tournament.
How much does Oscar have left? Can Mayorga land and hurt Oscar?

This is a fight I'd really like to see. If DLH doesn't train properly he could get hurt worse than he ever has been before. Of course Mayorga these days is nothing like the Trinidad DLH was able to run away from, but I can't see him being able to stay away from Mayorga as well as Spinks did either. This could be a lot of fun.

DLH is the naturally bigger man, and if he is still near his best can take a good victory here. Mayorga is one tough customer though and can make this a very entertaining fight.
Props to Oscar for taking this challenge. Mayorga is much more dangerous than Vargas!

How do you figure DLH the naturally bigger man?

Yeah I don't know about that considering Mayorga was always a big Welterweight and was never any less than that.

Glad to see Oscar giving the clearly shot Vargas a miss. This is a much tougher fight to take, seeing as Mayorga takes a hell of a shot and still packs a punch himself.
Still, Oscar figures he's going to easily outbox the limited slugger, and he's probably right.

Good fight this one look forward to it, wonder how long will DLH stick around for should he win. I cannot see this being his last fight. Its big, but not as big a maybe a third match with Shane or a match with Winky.
Glad he is fighting Mayorga over Vargas, as he has proven himself over Vargas.
