I'll be honest I dont know too much about Gurov but hopefully Haye can come through it, then (as mentioned on another thread) we can have Hobson vs Haye for all 3 titles.

Hope Haye can win but it will be quite tough.

I wanted this fight to be on the Hatton - Maussa undercard

Good enough fight anyway & all the best to Haye :TU:

I've not seen Gurov fight, but its going to take some fighter to beat Haye based on current form. Hes definately learnt his lessons from the Thompson fight and is alot more patient and precise.

Look out Mormeck hes coming to get ya :box:

Serious?

I honestly think Mormeck would ruin Haye if they fought in the next two years. After that, who knows, but Haye needs to do some stamina work if he wants to anything serious...

Gurov can be hurt early - rounds 1,2 and 3 , but then he starts to warm up and this is when he becomes dangerous.

Haye, at this stage of his career needs to get Gurov out of the way in the first 3 rounds or this could be disatorous for him. Gurov is seasoned and has done the full course before.

Gurov hits hard and has good skills. I think Haye will win (not as quick as Terry Dunstan beat Gurov) but in the 2nd , im pretty sure of that.

I agree, Haye is a long way off being good enough to beat Mormeck.

Despite not having seen too much of Gurov, I fully expect Haye to get him out of there early. But Mormeck would be far too much right now, and probably for a few years yet.

Mormeck would ruin Haye. If Haye wants to go for a champion go for Bell he doesnt hold the greatest of shots and is limited on skills.

the key word being..........haye is coming.......i.e not soon

Mormeck is the last guy Haye wants to face: he's got the chin to see out the early storm, and no doubt grind down Haye a few rounds later.
He had a rep for it in the amateurs, and from what we've seen in the pros, when the going gets tough....Haye folds like a house of cards.

But Dave seems to pack a serious punch, enough to maybe win him a version of the world title if matched right. They just need to steer him clear of the durable types. And luckily, there's not too many about at cruiserweight.

Cheers J, you understood what I meant

Hayes power and speed is world class, I believe him when he says when that no Cruiser inthe World can cope with his power when he is in full flow and landing his shots. His offensive boxing skills are phenomenal and I personally don't recall seeing such a destructive boxer since Tyson was a whipper-snapper :o

Hes fighting alot more maturely since the Thompson fight (when he fought like a twat) and its going to make him very difficult to beat, I think his alleged stamina problems have been blown out of all proportion. When he looked to have Carl hurt he threw alot of leather and gambled that he was going to be able to KO him, he didn't pace himself for the duration, but all in all I think that night was the most beneficial of Hayes career.

We'll see how durable these cruisers are when they are being hit regularly with Hayemakers :box:

Give it 12 months then Mormeck (and any other Cruiser that fancies his chances) is gonna get a pasting

I think in Haye, Froch and Audley we have 3 fighters that have the potential to dominate their divisions over the forthcoming years and I believe that all 3 will :TU:

Haye needs rounds, he has never been past the 4th round and won a fight... Wot?? that is 15 fights and up to european challenger status and not past the 5th round! At some point he is going to want to go 12 rounds and come under sustained pressur even if it is not in the next couple of fights that take him to the EBU title that is why I think he should do what he can to get in with durable opponents, sod it Im sure there is a limeted HW he can get in with who will be able to take his power

Hmmm Mormeck doesn't seem to fight much now so if Haye wins the EBU and defends it a few he could beat Mormeck.

The Gurov fight has Haye early, Gurov late written all over it.

Here's a little challenge for Haye.....do the job more impressively than Terry Dunstan ! :box:

I want to know how on earth Haye is the mandatory for the EBU championship when the British and Commonwealth Champion, Mark Hobson has not even been put forward by his Manager or the BBBC. Haye has won nothing and was knocked out by Carl Thompson in his only title fight. He avoided an English title agsint Bruce Scott so what are his credentials?

Also, what is Hobson's Manager playing at by letting this go?

Like the situation with David Walker and now with Haye I feel somebody has an unhealthy influence at the EBU - Phillipe Fondu perhaps?

Whatever the case why are the BBBofC not looking at this situation closer and protecting the interests of their British Champion?

Either way, Gurov will beat Haye which is probably why Fondu, Gurov's Manager has concocted the whole scenario in the first place. Either way he wins.

Just food for thought. But IMO Hobson is being treated very unfairly and the whole thing stinks of corruption.

I want to know how on earth Enzo Maccarinelli is number 2 ranked for the WBO championship when the British and Commonwealth Champion, Mark Hobson has not even been put forward by his Manager or the BBBC. Enzo has won nothing and was knocked out by Lee Swaby in his only defining fight. He avoided English, British and Euro titles so what are his credentials?

Also, what is Hobson's Manager playing at by letting this go?

Like the situation with other SN fighters and now with Enzo I feel somebody has an unhealthy influence at the WBO - allegedly perhaps?

Whatever the case why are the BBBofC not looking at this situation closer and protecting the interests of their British Champion?

Either way, Nelson will beat Enzo which is probably why Warren, Nelson's Manager has concocted the whole scenario in the first place. Either way he wins.

Just food for thought. But IMO Hobson is being treated very unfairly and the whole thing stinks of corruption.

Good point, but Warren is EM's Manager and is doing a good job to get him to #2. Hobson's clearly isn't.

The WBO are not an organisation affiliated to the BBBofC similar to the WBC, IBF and WBA. However, the EBU are and in fact their registered head office is the same as the Boards in Wales. The BBBC have an input in the EBU rankings and sit on the executive and championship commitee's. So that is my point re the Board.

Besides, a Promoter's job is to lobby these people to get their fighters ranked. Tom Gilmour the Promoter and Manager of Hobson is clearly not doing his job on behalf of his man whereas Warren and even little Mickey are as their guy's are rated.

Hobson is getting the shitty end of the stick IMO and that is all I expressed. Why? that is my question. Also MH is not even rated by the by the WBO/IBF or WBA but is #10 for the WBC which I assume is down to the Board.

It's a shame there isn't and 'Up your's' smiley.

This is a good post, Enzo's ranking is inflated no doubt.

BUT - a few points.

Lee Swaby - his ONLY defining fight? Ummm I think Bruce Scott might argue otherwise, an older, fatter Scott gave Hobson more problems than Swaby did.

I do have to agree with Boxingchat's points - its up to the promoter/manager to lobby for the ranking, and Warren has done a good job for Maccrinelli - Hobson needs a similar lobbying.

Whether there is an unhealthy influence, between certain British promoters and the WBO one can only speculate. However, whatever the ins and out I don't think there is any criticism at Enzo's lofty ranking other than from the organisation who rank him. Warren should be applauded for getting the position.

Personally, I have seen worst non-british fighters in such lofty position currently. Despite him not beating a particularly decent fighter (although, wasn't Scott rated by the WBO at the time?) Enzo has amassed a large number of wins now and looked impressive in most of them. Personally, I do find a top ten place lofty (let alone two) but can think of worse examples.

I am part of the BWRP (Boxingranks World ratings polls) in which people who have got boxing articles published through the net and/or in papers/magazines are eligable to vote. It is factor analysised in a very fair manner and there is no affiliation from any governing body. Theoretically (as it has a large sample from lots of nations) it is the fairest opinionated ranking system out there. Macrinelli was voted #10 in the world earlier this year.
