Prime joe Louis vs Rocky marciano

im interested to see, based on styles if someone thinks rocky would win if they were in there primes.
rememmber the old louis backed up in there fight, he would be coming forward in this fight
Louis TKo 6 marciano- marciano and louis will be florred early, then louis floors rocky twice in 6th and ref stops the bout to save marciano from further punishment.
louis had the kind of jab that would get to rocky, he would bust up rocky with it, and louis had a great short left hook and uppercut that he would hammer with. i can see the rock flooring louis with a right hand, but louis recuperative powers enables him to survive. louis was better combination puncher, more handspeed in the slug out, just as hard hitter, great offense in general.
louis said he would never beat him because he was a crowder. but i disagree, louis was taught by blackburn after the adoplh wiater fight how to fight a crowder. louis would be too fast and the fact that he hits so hard with deadly accuracy and great combinations, rock wont be able to handle that.

I agree with Louis over Marciano. I think Marciano would go a few more rounds, though, but I do not see him lasting past the tenth. Although lesser fighters like Tommy Farr went the distance with Louis in his prime, this had the making of a fight of the decade type bout. Louis down one or two times before the end, Marciano three tops.

I'm going to have to watch a compilation of Louis's bouts in his prime.
I've seen a few but why did they call him the "Grim Reeper?" Was it
his stare before fights? To me he looked slow sometimes & plodding
& it made me question of how he could complete with a young Ali
both in their primes.
Louis vs. Ali at 200lbs would also be a good debate. Would Louis finish
Ali if he had him hurt?

Thought you were going to bed? Ha, you have no proof!
Louis would defeat Marciano. Marciano was always overrated, just because he retired undefeated in a weak era of heavyweight boxing.
Marciano KO

Yes, Marcinao would ko Louis as he did in real life. Critics are constantly saying "Big Joe wasn't in his prime", maybe he was past-his-best, however it was still the same man who held the world title for 11 years, that Rocky ko'd.
Louis in his prime would have came for Rocky and Marciano just would have ended the fight quicker...
As for Rocky being "overrated", he ko'd the great Joe Louis & Archie Moore (who's registered the most ko's in professional boxing history) this would be evidence to support that Moore was ako specilaist.
Rocky also ko'd another 2 fighters would are rated in the top 20 heavyweights of-all-time, Jersey Joe Walcott & Ezzard Charles.
Rocky retired because there was no left for him to beat, and an even less amount of fighters would get in the ring with him....
You people ALWAYS find someway to discredit great fighter whether they be Jack Dempsey, George Formean or Rocky Marciano, there's just no pleasing you... Just accept it Rocky was a legend of the ring... he retired with a perfect professional record & was only knock down twice... A record hat "will last for eternity" as Angleo Dundee himself said.

Marciano retired because of chronic back pain and at the urging of his wife. Back pain + nagging wife = retirement.

In the first Scxhmeling fight Louis ate right hands like candies; Schmeling employed a stance that featured him leaning back and to the right, crouching, which caused Louis to reach with his jab and thus get hit with rights. He improved tremendously, but I'm not so sure he ever broke that habit of squaring up a touch too much and of dropping that jab.
Also I'm willing to bet that hitting Marciano with a jab was trial by fire; how many would really look to jab a guy with a right cross like that? Charles and Walcott were both very ring wise men and both elected to fight inside as opposed to sticking and moving. Louis had a great jab but my bet is that he would elect to meet Marciano head up and try to win fighting close with his short hard combiinatios and edge in handspeed.
He may very well do it, too, and I don't know if I can say he wouldn't but if I had to bet on a heavyweight in a punch swapping toe to toe fight it would be Marciano.

Prime Louis would probably get dropped a couple of times, but by the seventh round, louis's devastating combinations force the ref to stop the fight on cuts. Marciano a bloody but game mess at the end.

I like Louis and think he was very good, but there was and always will be a doubt about his chin as Schmeling proved. No way the Rock or Ali would lose to a Schmeling. Louis was there to be hit, that is definite and I don't have the confidence in his chin to take a whack from the murderous right hand from Marciano. Rocky on the other hand has a very solid chin and excellent stamina, so it's a case of who can take it the best...that has to be Marciano. Joe's defense wasnt exceptional either so we know that he'd have to rely on getting Rocky out of there fast, I just see Rocky's heart and chin keeping him in there until he starts to nail Louis who doesn't take it like Marciano and Louis folds somewhere between 6 and 9 rds....

and because there was no one left. archie moore had already beaten almost all the top contenders like baker and valdez, and by marciano beating moore he eliminated any big title fights.
patterson was too green, hurricane jackson was no match for rocky, there was no one.
louis was different at 27 then 37. louis threw far more deadly combinations and i can see im coming into marciano and being able to bust up marciano and win the slug out. louis jab wil lgive rocky problems but rocky will find a way to drop louis most likely, but louis had amzaing recup powers and though rocky was impossible to beat in a toe to toe slug out, louis could do it. louis could because he hit as hard as marciano but had faster handspeed and threw better more accurate combinations. louis was special.
when marciano fought louis, nat fleischer said "louis had long since lost his once deadly paralyzing punch"

Joe would get dropped early, but get up to stop Rocky around the eighth or ninth round.

i think joe louis steadily pounds away at marciano for a late round KO. i dont think rocky floors louis.

marciano would have knocked out a 21 year old green patterson, he didnt have the chin then to take even an aging marcianos punches or pressure.
marciano also said to a group who asked him if he could beat patterson
"if i said yes i would be bragging, if i said no id be lying"
:P real sly rock

no he wasnt, he waas green with not a strong chin as seen by his trips to the canvas by tom mcneely, pete radamacher, roy harris, ingo
the patterson after he lost the title was a bigger, stronger, better fighter with a better chin
let me ask u u think if that fight took place in 56 patterson would win??

Rocky Marciano would have dropped Joe Louis and won a decision in the first fight and Louis would have won the rematch. The Brown Bomber always did better in rematches.
They would then split the next two fights.
In the 40s and 50s they would have fought each other at least 4 or 5 times.

I think Louis wins on points over 15 rounds.
Both men hit the deck, but Louis prevails the win a decision.

i think ur confusing joe walcott with joe louis
louis was shot when he fought marciano, he got a lot worse in his thirties
walcot on the other hand got better in his thirties

The Apocalypse must be about to descend upon us, because I think Marciano would have actually done much better than Brockton does. In my scenario Marciano could come at Louis fast and relentless like Arturo Godoy and maybe even score a flash knockdown in the 1st or 2nd, but by about the 4th round Louis would be in control catching the Rock with counters and beating him to the punch. Marciano would give it his usual best though and despite perhaps suffering a couple knockdowns in the 2nd half of the fight, he'd pull out a couple of rounds with big desperation shots that would stun the Brown Bomber and temporarily have him in trouble. Still Louis would do better overall in the last third of the fight, and at the final bell the Rock's face would look like La Motta's after the St Valentine's Massacre, but he would finish on his feet. Louis would be the winner by something like 10-5 on rounds, but would need at least 6 months rest before his next fight.
