It looks like Evander Holyfield will be fighting on the undercard to Ruiz vs Valuev. I wonder if this means a potential Valuev is on the cards if both are successful.

The chief support to the main event is Vidoz vs Koc for the EBU title.

I wonder who this TBA is, it is a Sauerland show, so who can it be. If its Timo Hoffman then I think Holyfield will lose.

Hopefully it will be someone with decent skills but not ferocious power. I think you are right about Hoffman, his height will be too much for Holyfield.

I wonder what Sprott Vs Holyfield would turn out like?

Sauerland have shows to weekends in a row, so he cant bring the big guns for both show. (Beyer is fighting the week before the Valuev vs Ruiz bill). It could be one of Sauerlands own heavyweight that could fight Holyfield, maybe a Rene Dettweilter? A good match for Holyfield could also be Zuri Lawrence.

What about Juan Carlos Gomez.

Lawrence is a terrible match-up for Holyfield IMO. Southpaw and tricky and on a high. I'd give him a miss.

Holyfield v Vidoz, Steffan Nielsen, Timo Hoffman, Lian Krasniqi, Michael Sprott, Corrie Sanders, JC Gomez would all be credible fights for Holyfield. I doubt any of the subsequent defeats would encourage him to retire....but.

It couldn´t be Gomez. He fights for Kohl. I have heard about Akinwande who is under contract at Sauerland....

Oh dear, a PPV must. Huggy Bear versus the hardest working head in show businesses.

A dark horse could maybe be Rüdiger May, I think Sauerland still ows him 1 fight.

I was really looking forward to Akinwande V Holyfield first time round..... i reckoned Henry was gonna beat Holy... of course he failed his medical

Holyfield would lose to a whole host of opponents mentioned above, which is terrible.


I'd think the safest bet for Holyfield would be a fight with Julius Francis.

Akinwande and Holyfield were originally supposed to meet in 1998 for the WBA title .It was part of a nightmare bill that had to be cancelled on the day of the fight. Akinwande tested positive for Hepititis and a woman boxer who was to fight on the bill was found to be pregnant!!!

Wasn't it something like a week after when Mercer vs Witherspoon was originally scheduled, it was postponed due to Ray failing a medical.

I know we criticises todays "world class" heavyweights, but outside of Lewis and Holyfield, that generation was pretty bad - what with DQ's, failed medicals, dodgy decision, and Moorer coming in so rediculously out of shape for a unification fight.

Good stuff. I knew about the hepatitis stuff but the pregnant woman is new to me. Good research!

I grew up watching Evander fight. I always admired the fact that he stepped in with anyone. And I also admired that he was at his best when everyone counted him out. This is a man who beat Dwight Qawi...in his 12th PRO FIGHT!

But eventually you need to say enough is enough. And for a while now boxing fans and writers, myself included, have given Holyfield a pass for his terrible performances in the ring. But at this stage I really believe they have tarnished his legacy. If Evander would've walked away after losing to Chris Byrd that would've been fine. But he compounded it by getting blown out by James Toney and barely winning a single round against Larry Donald. Now we're talking about him getting beat by a European Club fighter? What a damn shame.
