People are worried about Hatton accepting the challenge?

Pfft, Mayweather has done shit in 3 years and he isn't going to take any risks anytime soon.

P4P #1 my ass.

Actually the contracted weight for Mayweather-Mitchell is 147. The bottom line on Floyd is clear though. He's very quickly turning into another Roy Jones Jr. Talks about big fights....talks talks talks. The moment negotiations get serious for a big fight, Pretty Boy ups his demands to a guaranteed 20 million bucks and the fight collapses. Look at all that junk with Winky Wright. He called out Winky and he then the minute Winky got serious about the fight Floyd blinked.

Floyd's a great talent no doubt. But how do you justify Sharmba Mitchell (shot at this stage), Gatti, Bruseles, Corley, N'dou and Sosa when you fight in a division that has great fights and great fighters all around you. Hatton, Margarito, Judah, Witter, Raheem, Lazcano, Castillo, Cotto, Mosley, DLH, Harris or even young guns like Ricardo Torres, Juan Diaz or Juan Urango.

Btw. I think that Hatton can beat Mayweather. If he can stay on top of Floyd like he did to Kostya Tszyu he can neutralized PBF's greatest advantage -- his speed. If Hatton is able to take away Floyd's speed then I think he can go to work on the inside and rough Floyd up a bit.

I read PBF was defending his WBC 140 belt against Mitchell in a few places.

PBFs comp is second to none P4P - EVERYONE 130-135 - Castillo twice, Corrales - and easily, Gatti was ranked top5 at 140. PBF is HBO and couldn't fight Showtime fighters like Hatton and Zoo. Cotto and Hatton both turned down the November date with him, Judah would fight him fight him without the titles, 154 fighters (DLH, Winky) are irrelevant and shouldnt be fighting a featherweight Floyd imo. Mitchell was no2 at 140 only a year ago and has a chance against Floyd because of stylistic issues - faster hands than Floyd how will he cope? Corley was about no7 at 140.

PBF-Hatton is a great fight and I can't make my mind up who wins although I lean to Floyd. P4P no one has comp like PBF.

Wait. Who has Floyd fought in the past three years? Castillo was his last big fight and that was three years ago. Corrales was five years ago. His last five opponents have all been no hopers. And DLH is NOT an 154 pound fighter. He spent most of his career at welter or south. He's said he'd like to return to welter.

I think you're talking up Sharmba Mitchell, Demarcus Corley and Arturo Gatti a bit much. Gatti is a blood and guts warrior but he never was and never will be considered an elite fighter. Can you find me a single boxing scribe who gave Gatti any sort of chance in this fight other than Floyd getting injured during his ring-walk. Corley had already been beaten by Judah in his previous fight. And I thought the fight was a lot wider margin than the official judges. Bruseles was an absolute nobody. N'dou and Sosa were decent fighters but nobody in their right minds had them even on a top 50 p4p list. And Mitchell WAS a good boxer. This would've been an entertaining fight...four years ago. To say that Mitchell has superior hand speed to PBF at this stage is ridiculous.

And as for the nobody has P4P competition like Floyd. Here's a few

Winky Wright. Last 5: JC Candelo, Angel Hernandez, Shane Mosley, Shane Mosley, Felix Trinidad

Jose Luis Castillo: Juan Lazcano, Joel Casamayor, Julio Diaz, Diego Corrales, Diego Corrales

Diego Corrales: Joel Casamayor, Joel Casamayor, Acelino Freitas, Jose Luis Castillo, Jose Luis Castillo

To be # 1 P4P you don't beat a bunch of no-hopers. It's about beating elite fighters. Or at the very least solid contenders. Floyd hasn't stepped in the ring with either since Castillo and that was three years ago.

don't mention it :TU:

seriously though,do you think mayweather's going to come back to fighting @ 140lbs after beating mitchell and getting a shot @ judah??? cos thats a bigger fight for americans than a fight with hatton imo..

Prior to the Gatti fight, Floyd had never appeared on PPV, and outside of boxing fans nobody really knew who he was. Even now he is nowhere near the marquee value of Gatti, DLH, Mosley and even Vargas, all of whom have large followings, he's getting there though.

I doubt Mayweather will fight Hatton, as he won't want to come to Ricky's back yard. Despite all the talk, I don't think Ricky will be that keen on travelling to the USA to fight genuine challengers like Mayweather, Cotto etc. He may go there to fight the likes of a Maussa, a challenger who he sees as having little chance, but will want home advantage as this is one of his biggest assets. The ref and judges are going to psychologically be influenced by the crowd at home.

The only way I see this fight happening is if Hatton wants a big fight before retiring.

FIRSTLY - You can't fight people who don't want to fight you - Hatton turned down PBF for PBFs first fight at 140 and for his recent November date. Cotto won't fight him (Arrum won't allow it). The Judah fight would have happened but Judah didn't put his belts on the line. Mosley won't fight him.

Who do you want Floyd to fight who actually has the balls to fight him and who would be a worthwhile fight? I think he'll have a super-fight next fight all the same.

Mitchell has the fastest hand speed in the world and some of the fastest hands ever and Floyds hand speed isn't all its made out to be. Fast hands doesn't make a great fighter but Mitchells hands are easily faster than Floyds. Mitchells legs seem to have gone but that doesnt take away

About Comp: Gatti was WBC champ and destroyed Dorin who was the man at 135 other than Floyd. Also beat Ward ad Leija - he was universally top5 at 140
Corley was top10 at 140 - first fight at 140 he would have fought Hatton but was turned down
Mitchell was no2 at 140 last year - only decent name that would fight him.

You obviously haven't been following DLH - he will fight for 154 titles - if he could make 147 he'd be fighting JUdah - he can't. No way anyone (Floyd or anyone else) will or ever will duck OScar Delahoya - the money from 1 fight with Oscar shadows everything. So you saying Floyd is avoiding Oscar is a joke.

The fact you put 2 Floyd victims that aren't near his class of having better P4P comp is laughable.

Floyd is fantastic, imo Mitchells hands are faster. Floyds handspeed isn't alone what makes him best P4P - he combines power with speed (reducing speed) more than just having handspeed for the sake of it. I think Mitchell is a tough style match up for Floyd as would be Judah.

You can see why the rumours are starting for this one. Hatton's just linked up with Fight Academy, Mayweathers just linked up with Dan Goossen. Goossen and Fight Academy have done plenty of business together before so it should be straight forward to put together as long as the fighters purse demands can be satisfied.

ACtually I think the way you Floyd apolagists justify this guy fighting bums and has-beens is laughable. You're honestly telling me that Sharmba Mitchell at 35 years olds is not only a faster fighter than Floyd, but the FASTEST fighter in the game? That's just a joke and you know it. And Mitchell having no legs left DOESN'T take away from this fight? Huh?

As for listing two Floyd victims as having better P4P competition. It's absolutely true. You're telling me that Bruseles, Corley and Gatti is more impressive opposition than Casamayor, Castillo and Freitas? Or Mosley and Trinidad? Or Lazcano, Casamayor and Corrales? Are any of the guys that Floyd fought in the past three years on anyone's top 15 p4p? Did anyone honestly rank Henry Bruseles, Demarcus Corley or Arturo Gatti in a top 15 when Floyd fought them? Put it another way. At the time of these fights was Casamayor a top 15? Yes. Was Castillo? Yes. Was Freitas? Yes. Was Lazcano? Maybe not but he belonged in a top 20.

Corley was a top 10 fighter at 140? Did I miss a beat or did Zab Judah give him a beatdown in his last fight before facing Floyd. Gatti? I love Gatti. But you and I both know why Floyd got in there with him. It was to create the illusion of a big fight. Gatti will always be a blood and guts warrior and he deserves all kinds of credit. But Floyd's people and any serious boxing fan knows that his style was absolutely tailor-made for PBF. He's not fast, he relies on mixing it up, which he wouldn't be able to do with Floyd because he wouldn't catch up with him, and he's willing to take five shots to get off one.

And even if these two guys were top 10 at their weight, the other guys (Castillo, Corrales, Winky) have been fighting guys that were Top 10 POUND FOR POUND.

Ok So you can't get in there with Hatton or Cotto. You're telling me that Junior Witter, who just fought last week, wasn't available for Floyd's November date? Witter may be overmatched but he presents a helluva better challenge than a shot Sharmba. And what's more Witter will fight ANYBODY. So will Antonio Margarito. Since the fight is taking place at 147 you're telling me Margarito's not available? He's fighting on the Klitschko-Rahman undercard so he'd have been ready for floyd's november date.

You Floyd apolagists are crazy. You refuse to give credit to Hatton for beating Tszyu but then you pretend that Floyd is taking on a major challenge by stepping in there with Sharmba Mitchell. Who incidentally was beaten by Tszyu not once but twice.

You didn't answer the question - WHO SHOULD FLOYD FIGHT THAT HAS THE BALLS TO FIGHT HIM AND IS WORTH BOTHERING WITH? Margarito and Witter bring nothing for Floyd - no money, no belts, and if he wins everyone will say those fighters were bums in the first place.

Firstly your obviously a Hatton ball licker and know nothing about how to box. Fastest Hands - doesn't equal fastest fighter (Shambas footspeed is dead) - fast hands doesn't even make a fighter good (but Shamba is good). Shamba isn't the greatest opponent - but hes a time passing opponent who brings a challenge (BTW did you even see Mitchell-Zoo 1 - Mitchell was up at the time of the injury) - Floyds waiting for someone to grow the balls and fight him

How the sweet fu<k can a Hatton ball licker complain Mayweather isn't facing Witter  I've heard it all now

Floyds obviously P4P better than Castillo and Corrales who he humiliated. He'd humiliate them today hence hes above them - is that too hard to understand retard?

I give Hatton credit for beating Zoo, but Maussa clearly a step below

Back to Floyds comp (which I agree isn't the best but):

Corley won on 1 judges card against Judah - I wouldn't say thats typical of been beat down would you?

Do you even watch boxing? You can't if you're telling me that Margarito is a bum. And let's turn this around on you. What does Floyd get by beating a 35 year old Sharmba Mitchell? He would've gained something if this fight happened 4 years ago. Margarito is pretty much universally recognized as one of the most avoided fighters in the lower weight classes. And there are plently a boxing scribe who feel he is the stiffest challenge facing Floyd. This perhaps explains why he wants no part of the tough Mexican.

As for Witter. Maybe the casual, know-nothing, follow only Floyd and Roy Jones, boxing fan wouldn't give Floyd any credit for a win here but those who actually follow the sport know that a win over Witter right now means more than beating up a shot Sharmba Mitchell.

And ok so Sharmba has the fastest hands in the sport in your opinion. Which is ridiculous in the first place but let's just say for the sake of argument that you're right. What the hell good are his hands if he doesn't have the speed to get near Floyd and land? You say yourself that his legs are shot.

BTW the personal insults don't do anything but make you look foolish. I'm not here to get into that garbage. I'm not a Hatton "ball licker" as you so eloquently and intelligently put it. I've been criticial of his opposition as well. But a lot of that has to do with his promoter as you well know. Or would if you follow the sport.

Floyd may well always beat Corrales. But I, and a lot of other smart boxing people, scored the first Castillo-Mayweather fight for Castillo. Let's see if Floyd goes anywhere near him at 140 pounds. If anything Castillo has clearly improved as a fighter since those two fights. Since then he's stepped in there with Juan Lazcano, Julio Diaz, Joel Casamayor and Diego Corrales twice. Floyd in contrast has gotten in there with Victoriano Sosa, Phillip N'dou, Demarcus Corley, Henry Bruseles and Arturo Gatti. It's debatable whether the best guy on Floyd's list (Gatti) is better than the worst guy on Castillo's (Lazcano).

Oh and one more small point on the first Tszyu-Mitchell fight, you are actually incorrect. At the time of the stoppage Tszyu was up 68-65, 68-64, 66-66. Wishing it doesn't make it so.

Learn reading comprehension - Margarito is not a bum - people like you would say hes a bum if Floyd owns him. BTW hes not in Floyds weight class - and isn't the man big at 147 and a former 154lber. If Floyd moves up its to fight people who bring something to the table.

At least Mitchell is a name and he does bring a challenge. IF getting KO'd by Zoo makes you a bad fighter we wouldn't have Zab Judah as a Champ would we? (I had Mitchell up by about a point against Zoo - it was close and thats why there was a rematch)

You want Floyd to fight Castillo after beating him twice - YES I don't think so (the first fight was close but I had Floyd winning 7-5 despite a hand injury) - did Castillo come close in the second fight - NOPE

If PBF doesn't fight a top player next I'd agree hes wasting his talent but Judah will almost certainly be next (and Judah would spank Castillo and Corrales silly). If he fought Witter then Maragarito he wouldn't get anymore respect than fighting Mitchell and Gatti and would make far less money. And thats what its all about money.

Floyd will fight anyone who brings both money and prestidge - Witter and Margarito bring neither - the fighters who do don't want to fight.

BTW you started the insults by calling me a Floyd Apologist which was annoying as I try to remain objective (although am a fan). I apologise for going to the gutter all the same.

Lemme start where you did. You should learn vocabulary. Apologist isn't an insult. It means defender. And you're clearly defending Floyd.

Margarito IS a natural welterweight, which in case you weren't paying attention is where the Mayweather-Mitchell fight is taking place. He moved up last year to 154 to face Daniel Santos for the WBO title because nobody would fight him at welterweight.

Mitchell may be a name but he doesn't bring a challenge. How can you say in one post that the guys legs are shot and in the next that he's a challenge and stylistically a difficult fight.

I didn't say that getting KO'd by Tszyu makes you a bad fighter. But did you see the fight? Sharmba was never in it. He was knocked down four times and looked totally out of it at the time of the stoppage.

As for Zab beating down Castillo. This is a joke right ?

We both know Floyd won't fight Castillo at 140. My point is that he shouldn't if he wants to keep him unstained record. I noticed that you completely ignored the comparison between Castillo's level of opposition since fighting Mayweather (Where he fought at least 2 top 15 p4p fighters) and Mayweather's where he didn't face a guy in the top 20.

Your point about the money is the most ridiculous yet. As a fan what the hell do you care how much money Floyd makes? Unless you're his promoter, manager or one of his flunkies what does it matter to you? As a fight fan what would you rather see? The best fights out there or Floyd get rich? Does it make you sleep better at night knowing Floyd is pulling a Roy Jones and milking HBO for millions while fighting a group of has-been's and never-was fighters? I'm a fight fan. I wanna see the guy get tested not count his money on the way to the bank.

And like I said. To the casual fan maybe an overwhelmed Gatti and a shot Mitchell mean more than wins over prime and dangerous fighters like Junior Witter and Antonio Margarito. But to serious boxing fans these are the fights we want not paid sparring sessions.

I'm also unclear why people like me would call Margarito a bum if Floyd owns him. Why would I sit here and pile on praise on Margarito and then call him a bum? I've said it before and I'll say it again. If Floyd owns Margarito then I'll give him his due credit. Margarito stylistically presents the biggest challenge to Floyd IMO in the 135-147 range. I think he beats him. But if I'm wrong Floyd gets the credit.

Alis legs were shot 70-onwards and he won a few fights. Shamba will do better against boxers than KO artists in my opinion. Saying he was never in it isn't wholely accurate - I had him winning the first by recollection. Floyd can't destroy Shamba the say way Zoo can - hence the stylistic match-up. Shamba rarely gets outboxed.

Bare in mind fighting Shamba is perfect preperation for fighting Judah - same styles. I'm not sure if this fight is at 140 or 147 - I heard its a WBC defense though and that would mean a 1

Fact is no one wants to fight someone that can hurt them when theres nothing to be gained from it - like it or not thats the reality of the sport. The sports about politics and money.

And for the record would you seriously pick Castillo over Floyd today? Hatton could maybe beat Floyd but Castillo - insane. You neglect to mention Casamoya boxed Castillos head off but was robbed.

If Hatton is able to take away Floyd's speed then I think he can go to work on the inside and rough Floyd up a bit.
floyd blinked because winky is much larger and floyd would have to bust his ass to make middleweight n not lose ahything.. pbf just has a big mouth, he called out SRL. and im not quite sure if ur from england, but i do expect some bias ness..... pbf is the best fighter in this weight class bar none. hatton cant stop him and he knows it. hatton wont fight pbf first.

The contracted weight for this fight is 147. I don't know if I can say it more clearly.

Ok. So Sharmba won the first round. But he got knocked down 4 times and knocked out in the 4th. That isn't a competitive fight.

Sharmba rarely got outboxed when he was a younger fighter. He's 35 now and by your own admission, and the admission of every honest fight fan, his best fights are behind him. His legs are shot as you said. In what way possible does a 35 year old boxer with shot legs present a stylistic challenge? He'll never be able to get near Floyd except when Floyd comes to him. And that's where Floyd's superior speed takes over the fight. Floyd may not be able to destroy Sharmba like Tszyu can. But he'll be able to get in an outta dodge at will and a stoppage based on accumulation of punishment isn't outta the question.

Fact is that real fighters and real champions, make the best fights possible. And you're right. Floyd can go on making these fights from here on until tomorrow. And he'll make a lot of money doing it. But I'm not interested in how much money he makes. And why does this logic only hold for FLoyd? Why is it then that we see guys like Manny Pacquiao fighting Morales, Barrera, and Marquez practically back to back? Why is is that Barrera fights Morales and Pacquiao? Why is it that Winky fights Mosley twice and Trinidad back to back? Why is it that Castillo fights Lazcano, Casamayor, Diaz and Corrales twice? Why is it that Corrales fights Casamayor twice, Freitas, and Castillo twice? Why is it that Mosley fights Forrest twice, De la Hoya and Winky twice?

By the way. All of the above fights took place when Floyd was facing Sosa, N'dou, Corley, Bruseles and Gatti. And you can't tell me it's financial. Because Floyd gets paid tons of money for fighting stiffs. He'd get even more for a fight the public was remotely interested in seeing.

And yes. I think Castillo at 140 would rough Mayweather up. That's Castillo's natural weight and his punches will have more steam. Whereas I think Castillo has improved as a fighter since their two fights (one of which I thought JL won) I think Mayweather has stayed the same and proven nothing.
