Marty Servo -- how good was he?

Ok, know it alls, how good was Marty Servo?

Before he retired for WWII and came back four years later to get ruined by Graziano, Servo was 43-2-2 with a win over Lew Jenkins and two decision loses to Ray Robinson, one a close split-decision loss that the crowd disagreed with (almost could have been Robinson's first loss).

Anyone know more about this guy? How good was he? Could've, would've should've, never would've, did?

Someone fill us in, enquiring minds want to know! :)

The SD against Marty Servo was the first one of Robinson's career. The next SD Robinson had was three years later against Jake LaMotta. Actually, since you mentioned it and I went back and looked, Robinson had very few fights go to a SD (or draw) until the 1957 or so when he was still great but well past his prime and fighting greats like Fullmer and Basilio.

Anyways, did you ever notice that the vast majority of fighters Robinson fought were white? Lol.

More than a few people thought that Tommy Bell in 46 and Kid Gavilan in 48 beat Robinson, and they were black.
