I only caught the last 2 rounds, Holdsworth said that Valuev deserved the win but i'm sure i heard on the net that this was a dodgy decision, who ever watched this last night what did you make of the decision ???

Also from what i gathered the crowd was cheering Donald & booing Valuev

As I have said MANY times before - Valeuv is a giant bum and has been fighting bums all his career. The only thing he has going for him is his height, and that's it. I can see this guy getting beaten while still a fringe contender and then packing it in. He is shit and anybody who has been hyping him up should be ashamed of themselves.

I think that's a bit harsh John, the guy has made the best of his techical limitations but has steadily improved his level of competition and has beaten some reasonable opposition...the likes of Levin, Etienne, Nobles, Vidoz (probably his best win) and now Larry Donald you can't ignore Valuev anymore as a contender.

I watched the Valuev-Donald fight with German commentary so not sure how Holdsworth had it scored, i thought Donald nicked it but i would rather see the Beast win anyway than have Larry Donald contesting the Heavyweight title

He won the fight with Donald, closely but definitely. Donald is probably the worst fighter for Valuev (or anyone) to look good against.

Valuev is not the second coming, but he is def top 10 material.

But Steve, Larry Donald is 38 years old and loses out on a controversial decision against Valuev. I just feel that Valuev has extreme technical limitations, not much power and uses his height well. His height is a huge advantage, massive. The only thing I have enjoyed about seeing him fight is just his size. And it's ugly to watch too. Jab..... jab..... jab..... Keeps his opponent at arms length so a) he can't get close and b) he can't even see him because he has a giant fist in his vision path. Of course this is the obvious thing to do to make the most of what he has but I think any skilled contender with power beats and probably stops Valuev.

Well a 34 year old Tony Tubbs lost a controversial decision to Riddick Bowe.....

Valuev is an interesting adition to the heavyweights, even if mainly for his freakish size.

He also is surprisingly witty in interviews I have read.

I didn't score it off German TV, but I do know that Donald gave the giant nightmares with the straight right hand in the middle rounds - Valuev was a sitting duck for it.

Who knows with Ruiz though, the guy is capable of losing to anyone.

If Valuev ever fights Vitali, what a strange sight it'll be - the giant Vitali actually looking UP at his opponent....

I watched the fight ringside and it was very close. you could give it to both of them.

The second phrase you posted is the same what his coach, Manuel Gabrielian, told me after the fight. They knew that it would be close. But he is sure that Valuev would easily beat Ruiz. And this is what the whole boxing scene wants.

Regarding the booing there is to say that this happens after every Valuev-fight in Germany. The crowd here likes to win David in the Goliath-matchup.

Anyway, as you say the most important thing is that Valuev gets rid of Ruiz, and I think he will outpoint him clearly, thouigh not stop him.
