Scott Harrison gained 20lbs in 24hrs!

Having scaled bang on the Featherweight limit of 126lbs, Harrison weighed 146lbs come fight time. This is absolute madness, and this must prove what the man has to go through in order to make 9st.
What the hell had he eaten in order for him to put on that much weight in such a short space of time? He must have to go through hell.
I feel he should move up, he's MASSIVE for a Featherweight. When Harrison was in the ring yesterday, he made Lightweights looks small in comparison to himself!
Does anyone know what Hussein weighed come fight-time? I reckon he probably weighed around 9st 8lbs. Harrison was so much bigger than him.
Do you not think any action needs to be taken in order to stop this kinda thing happening?
Knowing what Harrison eats in a day when he needs to make weight would be interesting?

It's dangerous and totally ridiculous, he needs to move up in weight now.

Harrison should be a Welterweight.

Its a double-edged sword being so big at a weight. You often find such fighters have the strength to push around and bully their opponent in the opening third of the fight. But if they havent got rid of their opponent, down the stretch they start to look pretty weary and vulnerable. Arturo Gatti at Super-feather was a prime example.

This is mad
Harrison should be at 135-140lbs, with the weigh in on the night. He is not a Featherweight.
I remember people in my old gym being dumbstruck when it was discovered that Jim McDonnel gained 9lbs in 24 hrs when fighting Barry McGuigan. 9lbs for a 126/130lb man is enough. But 20lbs is crazy.
And yes, Harrison did weigh 146 fight time.

Yeah he said he needs a full two months of training to get down to the weight. I'd like to see him move up to 130 lbs now and I think this is going to happen because they're not going to want to risk him against somebody like Joan Guzman who is a very risky and relatively unknown fighter (even though Scott should be WAY bigger than him) compared to the likes of Barrera who would earn him a big pay day before he retires.

I really want to see Harrison fight Guzman, what a great fight that would be. He's got a real serious WBO number one in Guzman.
He may find it hard to make 9 stone even more so after his next few fights, but this is a very good fight that should be made. He does not seem to be getting any of the other title holders, if he can beat Guzman he should think about a fight with Barrios for the WBO Super Featherweight title and that would would be a real war as well.
He's been making the weight for years at 9 stone dispite his weight gain on fight night. Fight Guzman, thats a fans fight to see for "his" title. I'd rather see him deal with this challenge and then move up, win or lose.
We could also see Harrison Vs Arthur if both stay on course in the near future.

I'd bet a lot of money that they avoid Guzman like the plague. They will use the weight as an excuse. They will be right not to fight him.

Defintely - Maloney obviously wants no part of Guzman. It's a good excuse though - if he takes two months to make the weight, he's at the wrong weight.
Plus FW gets to promote two possible champions if Guzman gets a vacant shot and Scot moves up.
They must be eyeing up WBO champ Barrios at jr light - not the best title holder we've ever seen, but tough as hell and will give Scot all the trouble he can handle.

If Harrison was 146lb come fight night what the hell does he walk round at 160lb ish i would say, Hatton does the same through he's 12 1/2 - 13st and boils down to 10st no problem, Harrison will stay a feather for a good few years yet i think.
Heh...

If Harrison doesn't fight Guzman, it's just another fighter that avoids Guzman.

Reminds me of Charlie Atkinson, a British boxing trainer who ended up working in Thailand with pros. I read an interview with him where he claimed that some of them, in particular Sot Chitalada, absolutely murdered themselves 'boiling down' and were worse fighters as a result. He said that in the case of Chitalada, even though he was a world champ, if he'd fought cloer to his 'natural' weight would have become one of the greats.
Harrison clearly needs to move up, possibly even two weight divisions, if that's the sort of weight fluctuation he's going through.
Give it another year and we'll have Harrison Vs Hatton

Good points Deserter.
Exclusive Team Harrison interview over at BritishBoxing.net basically tells the likes of the two Franks to stick to what they should be doing. Some tasty quotes!

Interesting. All good though, if it means we get to see Harrison/Guzman. That's Scot's toughest fight by a long shot. No wonder the Franks want him to move up - it's too close to call, and a vacant title means FW can possibly end up with two champs, rather than have one knock off the other.
I reckon he'll have to offer Scot a straight shot at the WBO Jr light title, in order to persuade him to vacate. Could be tricky...
Where does the name Hadji come from?
BTW - if you post a link, take of the http:// bit and it'll give you a direct link

Agree. I'd favour Guzman at this point in time, though have to confess I haven't seen him fight at Feather.

When I saw Harrison's weigh in picture in Boxing News preview he looked awful, not sure which fight that was for but it he looked like death just about warmed up, so drawn it's untrue.

Probably the weigh in for the Brodie fight, that is the worst I have ever seen him at a weigh in.

Yeah, gotta agree he would be far more effective at Super Feather! He always looks tired in the middle to late rounds, but he is one of the fittest in the game. That's weight weakening!! Be tough to get him to move though, he love his 'world champ' status. Maybe he'd do it for a crack at Alex Arthur? Settle the fued, lol. I doubt Warren would want ANY of that action.
