Lacy renews interest in Calzaghe
Lacy defends title with KO
IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy called out WBO king Joe Calzaghe after his two-round KO of Scott Pemberton in Lake Taho on the weekend.
Lacy's interest in meeting the Welshman appeared to have ended when Calzaghe withdrew from a 5 November bout because of a broken hand.
But after beating Pemberton Lacy said: "I want to fight Calzaghe next year."
The major sticking point would seem to be that Lacy wants the fight in Tampa, Calzaghe's camp in Cardiff.
The only other realistic big-money option for either fighter would seem to be a move up in weight to challenge the world's leading light heavyweight, Antonio Tarver.
Tarver has spoken of his readiness to meet either man, though his attention may currently be diverted after he landed a leading role in the new Sylvester Stallone Rocky movie.
Calzaghe's camp are looking to arrange a major fight for their man on 4 February.
If it comes off, Enzo Maccarinelli could challenge Johnny Nelson for the WBO cruiserweight title on the undercard
Jo doesn't want to be too far from his mummy apparently.

Id buy a ticket for that

Calzaghe will have to do it one day he can't sustain his career even in front of those fans if he keeps beating second string no hopers you shouldn't be in a title fight against someone you can beat one handed.

I think this one is looking likely for Feb in Cardiff. Lacy wants it, so do Showtime, JC and Warren is desparate for it too ( time to cash the chips )
Has to be in UK to pay the bills, as Jeff can't pull a crowd in the US.
But....Shaw says "Calzaghe wants us to come over there and they're willing to make any deal they can for us to come over there," And according to Steve Kim @ Maxboxing, Larkin says it's close to a deal.
Here's hoping.....early pick: Calzaghe TKO10

haha calzaghe has only fought 3rd ranked no.1 contenders that's what you call them right. Come on guys like Veit, Ashira, Salem are not top contenders. Scratch Robin Reid that was a fluke win. he has to face these guys to prove himself:
Beyer
Green
Lacy
Kessler
Mundine

He has held the title for 8 years and 15 defemces and hasn't had a unification fight yet, there is no way one couldn't have been made by now. What needs to happen? He has left britain once... how.

Maybe they papered the house - because Jay Larkin reckons it has to be in the UK for the gate money.

Lacy would get owned!
He don't have the speed to box with Calzaghe.
If Jeff fights here, hopefully no dodgey refs invloved either.
If it happens Calzaghe bywide UD or late stoppage from Lacy taking so many Jabs.

Calzaghe will not fight Lacy, especially after he blew Pemberton away so easily. And in the unlikely event it does come off, I think Calzaghe is in for a shock. He has had so many easy touches I am not sure he can jump up to the sort of intensity required. Its a huge step up from the guys he has been facing and Lacy has only had 21 fights!

I think (hope to god) he was being sarcastic with the pudwill comment. Poor old tocker was probably the worst title challenger ive seen calzaghe face, almost said title challenger in the uk but then had a flash back to Harrison kabede and Arthur kezza (was it??).

Lacy's overated and has dodgey refs to help him. Pemberton was hit in the back of the head without any warning to Lacy and Pemberton was ok to carry on.
Reid was nut punched with no warning and counted as a knock down and had the help of the ref to make sure he won. Would of been UD without that dodgey ref. Joe beat prime Reid with a broken hand!
Vanderpool was outboxing him until trading.
Couldn't even stop Sheika and struggled when Joe stopped a prime Sheika in 5!
Lacy is hyped up on guys Joe beat in their primes and has fought better than Lacy.
Lacy don't have the speed to box with Joe.
Sometimes fightng bad opp don't matter people were saying that Hatton would get Ko'ed by Tszyu and that he fought bad opp and didn't deserve it and he made Tszyu quit.
Mitchell, Eubank, Prime Reid, Prime Sheika, Woodhall, Brewer Staire and Veit were and are better than Typsko, Vanderpool, past it Sheika, Williams, Past it Reid who cares more about modeling.
From what I saw Pemberton was on top of Lacy and Lacy fouled him with a rabbit punch with no warning.
So Calzaghe would kill Lacy with a Wide UD or late stoppage with so many jabs in his face since he's easy to hit.
