whats ur thoughts on both fights???

Yup, they still talk about that one even today. And when the P4P No#1 gets beat by a longshot outsider, it has to go down as one of the biggest upsets ever - alongside Douglas/Tyson & Ali/Liston I guess.

Never could understand why Ali vs Liston 1 was considered such a big upset. I mean, I know how good Liston was but Ali was the Olympic champ who had beaten one or two decent pro's. He was undefeated and Liston was 30 something.

We will never talk about Hatton vs Tszyu being the biggest upset of all time, but I see similarlities. Tszyu like Liston was in the upper echolons of the P4P bracket. Ali, like Hatton, was an undefeated fighter who had one or two scares as a pro raising question marks (Ali vs Cooper, Hatton vs Magee). Tszyu like Liston was in his mid 30's.

Tyson vs Douglas, Braddock vs Baer and Turpin vs Robinson are what I would call the three biggest upsets of all time. Lets not forget the rematch, Turpin showed in the rematch that the first fight was no fluke - cause he was doing well up untill get caught by a beauty.

You've got to remember that Liston went through Patterson like a boot through soft shite, not once but twice, and was deemed invincible at the time. He was absolutely hammering people, and Clay was an unproven big mouth and was very young.

Liston v Clay might have been resulted in an "upset" but I know what I believe when it comes to whether the fight was legit or not.

Boxing News picked Liston in both the first and 2nd fights. I think Sonny was still the bookie's favorite for the rematch - obviously didn't believe their own eyes first time round.

But I (and a few others) thought Kostya Tzsyu looked invincible vs Shamba Mitchell just one fight back from the Hatton one. His munching of Mitchell was one of the most impressive displays of the year.

Add to that the Judah hiding and we had a pretty damn good fighter up there in the P4P rankings.

As great as Turpins win over Robinson was I always qualify it with the thought of how Robinson had been living before hand, particularly 'touring' Europe with his dozens of hangers on.

i've probably got robinson-turpin in my boxers video set. might dig it out over the next couple of days and give it a look.

He was in better shape than Max Baer vs James Braddock and Mike Tyson vs James Douglas, thats for sure. He was touring Europe with his fists, he wasn't in his finest shape - but he was keeping active.

You've also got to remember that Turpin (a midland lad ) gave Robinson all he could handle in the rematch.

People seem to forget that.

Make that both fights, i've read plenty of books on Liston and i know where my opinions lie
