Madness. It will be as big a let-down as other comebacks like McGuigan. If he does fight (which I sincerely doubt), he'll perform poorly against a journeyman while notching a win and then realise it's just not there anymore...

Naz without Ingle five years ago was ordinary. Naz without Ingle nowadays will be ordinarier.

Naz should give it up. He's too old to come back after such a long layoff. He just cannot bear not having the adulation, and Hatton seems a good target as he's the main man now in UK boxing.

At 140 Naz would be soft, slow, plodding and very hittable, Hatton would fornicating murder him, someone should talk him out of this nonsense if he is serious.

He should be aiming for 130 maybe 135 tops, and that's pushing it.

He'd get killed at 140, he's barely 5'3".

That explains why Naz was praising Hatton the other day - I wondered what that was all about, as it was the first time I've ever heard him give anyone credit other than HIMSELF.

Bizzare really, he's near enough turned into a Howard Hughes type recluse these days - no-one ever seems to see him, apart from an occasional voice on the radio. Never seen at fights or snooker matches either.

The only photo I've seen since he retired is that one recently, where he's carrying an umbrella.

Imagine the nationwide interest in the Prince making a return to the ring to face Ricky Hatton, there would be such a buzz going around if Naz was truly truly serious.

And it's hardly outrageous to suggest that Naz will have some ability left. I'm not going to write him off totally without even seeing him so much as hit a bag in the last 4 years.

He looked awful against Calvo, a european level fighter, how can he improve after such a layoff and so much heavy eating.

I think Naz misses the limelight, but how will he be able to motivate himself in the gym?

Even in his prime he wouldn't have beaten Hatton. Hatton walked through Tszyu's best shots, Naz for all his power is still only a featherweight.

I agree Hatton is probably too big an ask but I wouldn't discount Naz from holding his own in world class at lightweight. Far stranger things have happened in boxing.

Naz didn't look great by his standards last time but to be fair he won by a virtual shut-out against the European champion. It wasn't all bad news. Calvo would have given the present day Nicky Cook plenty to think about and enough people tip Cook to topple Scott Harrison one day.

I'm sorry KO, but you are getting carried away mate. We've had it from 'rock solid' sources before.

I heard him myself say he was coming back in Easter 2004. It's bollocks.

See the article on the BBC web site, NAz reckons he's been offered a 6 fight deal by an American Tv Network!

Any of the major stations would offer Naz the world for a comeback deal - they know the curiosity factor, if nothing else, would ensure big bucks.

And I think Naz genuinely misses the spotlight, and genuinely means he's gonna come back in 06 - but whether he actualy does get off his couch, and down the gym, is another matter.

If he does, I think one or two warm up fights will convince him otherwise. It's all about reflexes with Naz, and it'd be a minor miracle if he still has those.

Apparently he has already signed with a UK promoter.

I can't see Naz finding any success higher than 130... he's just too small... to think of coming back at 140 is ridiculous and makes me think Naz has either lost contact with reality or else is just coming back for the money and a last big payday.

I would love to see him back in the ring. He was a great draw for UK boxing & was a complete showman.

(A fool at times but i watched with excitement like the Tyson fights)

If he comes back and can perform well then good, if not at least the press will go into a frenzy like the Amir Khan carnival.

He was the Boxer we loved to hate the new Chris Eubank, it can do no harm to us and i for one would like to see him again! Im sure most of you will tune in to watch him again!

Totally agree.

Surely Hameds reflexes will have only diminished further over the last few years? A comeback at 140lbs sounds a terrible idea, due to his inactivity and height etc.

Sure he has power but that was at Featherweight!

Exactly. John Shep said (last year?) something similar to KOA but it came to nought. I'll believe it when I see him weigh at least two stones less than he does now. And I'll still be kidding myself.

the difference between this "comeback" and the previous failures is that Naz himself has spoken to the press and suggested he is coming back....

Now call me cynical (and i just spoke to a friend and he was thinking the same)........ BUT...... Naz has the court case looming after that car crash incident and a custodial sentence is extremely likely..... It could be possible he is using the boxing as leverage to get a non-custodial sentence... try and get back in favour with the british public..... tell the judge that if he goes to prison it will ruin his career, he will lose a lot of money etc etc ... He cannot do this of course when he effectively is jobless at the moment

The Prince does this every now & then.

He's just trying to keep his name up in lights.

Naz does not have the stomach for a fight. The Barrera loss proved that.

He relied too much on power & athleticism & although his power will still be there, judging by recent photos of him, I'd say that his athleticism has long since left the building!

Re your first sentence knockout, I heard it from his very own lips on a Muslim radio station in 2004 and it never happened. (On tape, I wasn't listening live...ahem)

Your second point is interesting though...lots of rumours around Sheffield about the case.

A few warm up fights then a big fight with... AMIR KHAN?!
