I've been watching some Kostya Tszyu fights and noticed that he fought a lot of southpaws, and he never really struggled fighting (beating) them. I can't figure out what it is about him that made it easy for him to fight southpaws and boxing commentators are often saying that they're difficult to fight for an orthodox boxer.

Suppose this would best be put to a boxing coach but I don't know any; and I'd be really interested to hear what anyone thinks about this.

His powerfull short straight right helped! He is one of the hardest P4P punchers about, that helps against any style opposition!

Alot of people made the mistake of standing and trying to box him, he is an awesome boxer with incredible power. He had hundreds of ameteur fights as well so he may have figured out some southpaws then.

defo.. the number of succesful southpaw amateurs in USSR/Russia is very high... they actually prefer southpaws as they believe it gives them an adavantage.. So no doubt Kosta sparred and fought many southpaws in his teenage years

Yes, his great right hand was a huge factor - it was such a natural straight punch he delievered.

Also, his strength and chin, this is generalisable to most of the authodox and southpaws that he faced though. He was never the hardest person to hit so I suppose him taking shots from a southpaw was less noticable than when he faced an authodox because people he often took shots.
