I love the part at the beginning when he is shadowboxing, he shows incredible feinting, handspeed. what an amazing rign technician, one of the greatest champions of all time jack johnson

poor tommy burns, u can see johnson toying with him laughing at him the whole fight and making a tool out of him.

Enjoy this flick

This is some really great footage Brockton. Thanks a lot for posting it :TU:

I love the part where Ketchel "knocks him down" (Johnson just slipped), then Johnson just gets right back up and knocks Ketchel into next year. I had never seen that footage before. Really, really good stuff!

actually it looks lie johnson slipped but he really didnt, johnson tried to duck but got hit in the ear and went down. he was clearly dazed for a few seconds, but had great recup powers got up and knocked johnson out cold. but it was legite knockdown.

The clips were good but a wrong choice of music for a highlight reel.

I watched it. Aptly named a tribute to Johnson. The first "knockdown" in his fight with Tommy Burns was actually a push. Burns, who stood just 5'7" tall, weighed in at about 168 ringside for that contest and was just recovering from a bout with influenza or something like it, that he'd been battling since shortly after he first landed in Australia. For all his physical advantages, Johnson could not keep Tommy on the canvas. The film was edited to show Johnson in the best possible light.

That may be so, but I have heard that Johnson-Burns was supposed to be mostly an act. When Burns Knocks Jack down look at how fast he gets up and destroys tommy. Johnson was putting on a show for the crowd and Tommy got caught up in the moment believing he could actually win. Johnson was toying with him and really let him have it when he wanted to.

Do you mean when Ketchel KD Johnson?

he means ketchel.i've got the fight and a few times stanley throws huge overhand rights that just miss.johnson and ketchel exchange vicious punches in the second round where stanley is also floored.ketchel tries to take his head off with huge uppercuts when he is tied up.there was nothing sneaky about the kd,he loads up and johnson doesn't get out of the way.

actually ketchell scored a legit kd. it looks like it missed, but the punch landed on jacks ear and u can tell when he went down it landed cause for 3 seconds he was dazed momentarily toucxhing his butt before he recovered and knocked hm out cold

Ketchel-Johnson was legit. Ketchel's punches look wild because that's the way he fought. He knocked out guys with wild power punches, taking whatever he had to to get close enough to land them.
