Monster puncher? You cannot be serious. He is not a devastating puncher by any means. Most of his stoppages are accumulations of shots, when has he ever knocked anyone out with one punch? I don't think he ever has. In fact when has he ever scored a knockdown with a single shot its usually a flurry of shots.

Hopkins will be retired by Taylor, thus this matchup is history. But the slick and agile counterpuncher Hopkins would have been a style nightmare for Calzaghe; and I'm sure Calzaghe's people know that.

I don't know if Hopkins would be strong enough at 168. But he has one hell of a right lead that no one seems to see coming. And that's one punch Joe's dad never taught him to defend against.

Not a monster puncher but a bigger puncher than what most of Hopkins has fought.

Anyway Hopkins likes to stay in smaller weight classes and beat blown up welters for his legacy where he will be safe.

Wasn't this fight made according to Warren but Hopkins pulled and wanted another 3 mill?

And those fights with fighters coming up were the biggest money fights for Hopkins what do you expect him to do? Trinidad certainly looked like a middleweight when he hammered Joppy, nobody has done that to Joppy before or since. Why do you have to bash anyone who is mentioned in the same breath as Calzaghe? ;)

I was going off what Warren was saying on that British Boxing article when replied to Ian's article.

Plus most of you do the same saying Toney's a blown up middle but he looked the part for cruiser and Heavy when beating Jirov and Ruiz.

His legacy is built off two welterweights though.

Hopkins legacy is off the fact that he remained unbeaten for 11 years, and defended his titles during that time. Tito had just destroyed Cherifi and Joppy coming into his fight with Hopkins, and was in his prime.

The DLH fight has nothing to do with his legacy.

Toney could never have stayed at middle for long, he was a 210lb linebacker as a college football player, and he should probably have campaigned at Light Heavy where I think he would have been champ for a long time. Anyway, what has Toney got to do with this.

I think at his best Calzaghe may have given Bernard some problems, being the naturally bigger man, and quicker too, but Calzaghe's defence has never been watertight, and Hopkins is a real sniper.

Taylor was a lot bigger and quicker, and even at 40, he almost finished Taylor off in the last two rounds.

Needs more than that though. Middleweight division must of been crap without two welters and Winky showed how easy it was to beat him, but credit to Hop for stopping him.

More than that? He ruled the division for a decade and beat all comers. What more could he have done? For once a fighter who doesn't move through the weights and dominates his division over a number of years, has to be commended.

Tito wasn't the same fighter when he fought Winky, that was obvious. He was a shadow of his former self.

True but even DLH beat him at Welter but got jobbed and most expected Trinadad to give Winky a competitive fight and even win but he had an easy time with Tito.

Hop said he wouldn't even fight Wright and would of rather Tito win so he could make another 15 mill, he knows Winky would beat him.

Lets be honest Hopkins v Winky would be one of the worst spectacles in living memory. I sincerely hope it never happens.
