As the photo shows, training is going well......

Interesting stuff, Haye has a good chance. Didn't fancy him going out to Russia and trying to wrestle the title away from Gurov. Should be a good ruck.

I just went over Gurov`s fight record and this is a big step up for Haye, even bigger than the Thompson fight I`d say.

Carl Thompson only really had his punch, no disrespect to the Cat but he is getting on and whilst years ago he would have bashed up haye without a problem, the pre-fight opinion was the slow starting and easy to hit Thompson was in for a painfully short night...but as said, he still carries a wallop.

Gurov is a more dangerous opponent, in so much that he will have ambition and be unfazed of fighting Haye because he has shared the ring with more established cruisers...and he can bang some also.

I have always liked Haye but even after his last fight there seemed to be more questions to be asked about him.
And it seemed to me that even David didn`t want to take a chance with his suspect chin.

I am still not convinced Haye does have a suspect chin you know, he was stopped by Thompson more on exhaustion and accumulation rather than being wobbled by a jab. The Mock fight is of course an issue but having recently viewed it, Haye was caught with a big shot on the top of his head and recovered i thought quite well, he ended the round with clear eyes and a smile.

But Gurov is a different proposition, he has a dig alright and moves well. I have only seen him once against Mormeck, he was winning the early rounds with a jab and move approach which confused the Frenchman, once Mormeck caught up with Gurov on the ropes as the Russian (?) tired he took over and stopped him. But Haye is not as polished or have the experienced as Mormeck.

Gurov should not be intimidated as most of David’s opponents are.
And I agree he did seem knackered against Thompson, but I really do think the chin is his biggest problem….and he knows it.

In his last fight he over emphasised tucking the chin…why if he didn’t worry about it…
Don’t get me wrong all boxers got to keep it tucked but they do not seem to worry about it so much, Nigel Benn was said to be susceptible (something I disagree with) but he still made his opponent worry more about theirs.

It does seem to contradict, but a big puncher with a less than reliable chin cannot be too over cautious…the longer the opponent is in there, the more time they have to land the big one.

Gurovs early defeats came in the early rounds, but his most recent came mid-fight which seems to suggest a more maturity about him now.

Gurov not fought anyone good for a while. I think Haye win knck him out imo. Good match up

Haye was stopped quite a few times as amateur.

Doesn't suggest he has a Eubankian chin.

If Haye wins won't he get a top ten ranking for all 3 and the ring too?

I started working in Bracknell in April. The newsagent there reckons he sells out of Boxing News faster than any other magazine - if I want one then Friday lunchtime has to be an early trip or they're all gone. He reckons it's because there are 'so many people interested in boxing' in Bracknell. I did suggest he get more copies in if he's selling out his week's supply in two hours and he looked at me as if I'd just turned lead into gold. That's why they pay me the big bucks, I guess. Although those large deer are a pain to fit into the Corsa on a Thursday night.

Strange choice of venue, surely a London venue would be better as Haye would attract a bigger crowd there?
