Can't find any threads on this and the result seemed a bit surprising when considering their respective records prior to the fight.

Anyone out there see the fight and can say whether the decision was fair ?

nor surprised at all tsypko didnt have the luxury of a home town desicision this time and has been exposed as the average fighter he is.

Had a fair few quid riding on Chanet, an unbeaten Frenchman fighting on home soil and not forgetting a son of a former european champion.
Fighting against a mom punching Ukranian guy who I thought was convincingly beaten by Eamon Magee. Was very surprised to see Chanet a 2/1 underdog.

The crazy guy I am, I did flirt with the audacious idea of starting a thread about this one, not least because I did consider putting some money on Chanet.

As Kit says, Tsypko really wasn't impressive against Magee, who IMO was totally robbed in Germany. Although I'd never seen Chanet, and his opposition hasn't been A1, he is unbeaten and, so it seems, hasn't been exposed chin-wise. Plus it was in France.

So nice one Kit although I think I saw around 5/2 for Chanet at somepoint.

Have I totally flipped or was this not a WBA eliminator too? Would Chanet give Kessler any trouble at all?

Maybe just a compulsive gambler, I had also never seen Chanet before either.
But the occassions I had seen Tsykpo before he had really not impressed me, plus a non puncher.
The fact that it was in France, Chanet being unbeaten and of good pedigree made it look to much like easy money. Missed out on 5/2 to though...

Chanet is a rather small, stocky and very explosive athlete...he is spectacular to watch...his style is unorthodox, he works in explosive 4-5 punch combinations, with hooks mixed up with uppercuts...likes to work the body, solid chin, solid stamina, high workrate, good power, very good handspeed, lacks some defense tho...i am very happy that he won this one.
as an amateur, Chanet used to KD his opponent quite often and fougnt at HW

For those that have seen him; does he stand a good chance of getting to the top ?

Also, how does he compare to Carl Froch both in terms of ability and current position in their careers ?

I was surprised at the result, i gave Tsypko the benefit of the doubt after the Magee fight but obviously he just isn't very good. So Chanet is now the Euro champ? From one European stronghold to the other...Froch should definately be looking at the European title so will be interesting to see Chanet in action and assess Froch's chances should they meet.

Chanet have declined the mandatory status.
