Pascual Perez vs Pancho Villa

Ok, since the vast majority of threads here are about heavyweights, I figured I'd ask who would win in a 15 round bout between two of the greatest flyweights who ever lived. So would it be the hardpunching Argentinian or the solid chinned Filipino who was never stopped in 109 bouts ?

I'd take Pancho Villa by decision. This would be one of the smallest flyweight championship fights of all-time as both combined are only 10 feet. Perez had more power, but from what I've read, Villa was much faster. When the best face the best, the chance of a KO becomes less likely and since bantamweights couldn't KO Villa I don't think Perez would've either. The speed and chin would carry the day and he would win the fifteen round decision over Perez.

I'd go for Perez, I've got some of his fights and he was a little human dynamo... while Villa was great himself I just feel that Perez was the stronger more mature fighter and would probably have edged out Villa in a thrilla on points!....

Villa never faced a puncher like Perez (Wilde obviously was past his best) in his career, and while I think his chin would hold up, Perez's power would be just enough to carry him to a close points victory.

Anyone else ? KOJOE, Barry, BoxBuzz, Dnahar ?

Perez was a tremendous bodypuncher... you could make an argument for Perez being the greatest flyweight champion ever imo...

I have some old Pancho Villa footage. It's so grainy you can't see wtf is going on (but dem old fighters sure had some speed - the 2 of them are going a million miles an hour :-? :D )

Haha. Point taken. But just because the footage of these fighters is not readily available, should we dismiss them because we didn't see them in action? Most of the reports I read claim that Villa was a very aggressive, fast fighter who used both hands and forced the pace constantly. You can read round-by-round accounts of many Villa fights and get opinions of many on the same fighter for balance. I think, with respect to these older fighters, it becomes necessary to do some research and use what was written to determine how the fighter was like in the ring. We shouldn't dismiss them completely, otherwise why even make fantasy matchups.

Villa was definately an all time great, his record speaks for itself, I suppose I lean towards Perez because I think he was the more mature and stronger... I can see him winng on points but it'd be a great and very close fight. The shame with Villa is that we didn't get to see how good he could have been because of his early death.
