Tyson 20th anniversary today.

Tyson became youngest ever HW Camp 20 years ago today.
Starts to make you feel old and im only 26.
First fight i ever saw and remember it as if it was yesterday.
What a 20 year ride eh?

I remember watching the fight live on TV at a mates 17th Birthday party.

I'm sure it was live. I am positve I watched it lying on my mates floor in my sleepingbag, very drunk. Maybe it was repeated as well?
Or maybe 20 years has clouded my memory of a drunked evening/morning.

yeah must admit i couldn't see him being beat for years, if at all.

My old man woke me up and told me to come and watch something special-i was 6 and had never seen a fight before but could tell by the way my Dad was acting that i was witnessing something pretty amazing...been hooked on boxing ever since.

We don't need Tyson, the division will be fine in the capable hands of such characters as Chris "Fights Like A" Byrd, James "Eats Out" Toney or maybe John "The Not Quite Man" Ruiz, of course Hasim "The Block" Rahman could be the saviour or even DaVaryl "Sends You To Sleep" Williamson. I have said it before and I'll say it again: Tyson had the ability and potential to be the greatest HW ever. He could have been head and shoulders above all HW's.
Boxing desperately could with a fighter like a peak Mike Tyson now! I doubt this would happen though, as a fighter as good as Tyson was, do not come around often. Especially in the HW division.

I recall watching with agog, the Berbick fight (live, even here at the arse end of the world

Can't help but wonder how many fathers did the same for Ruiz v Rahman......surely a case for social sevices
