Below is the undercard for Saturdays fight:-

Hallam FM Arena, Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Commission: British Boxing Board of Control
Promoter: Fight Academy
Light Welterweight Ricky Hatton V Carlos Maussa NC ? 12
~ IBF Light Welterweight Title ~
~ WBA Light Welterweight Title ~

Heavyweight Mark Krence V Carl Baker NC ? 10
English Heavyweight Title

Cruiserweight Carl Thompson V Frederic Serrat NC ? 10
Light Middleweight Matthew Hatton V Sergey Starkov NC ? 10
Light Middleweight Geard Ajetovic V Eugenio Montero NC ? 8
Featherweight Billy Dib V Buster Dennis NC ? 6
Cruiserweight Lee Swaby V Vitaly Shkraba NC ? 6
Middleweight Matthew Macklin V Alexey Chirkov NC ? 0
Nicky Smedley V Billy Smith NC ? 0
Middleweight Stuart Brookes V ? NC

To be honest with you i'm looking forward to it, i know that its not the best of an undercard but i see some positives:-

Krence - Baker - a 50-50 fight some may say
Thompson - Always puts up a brave performace, guarented excitement when he's in the ring
Mathhew Hatton - Cannot justify this one
Ajetovic - Montero - I think this could be a good scrap in all honesty
Billy Dib - I'm looking forward to see Naseem hameds young talent perform just to see what he has
Swaby - never seen before at a show so look forward to this one
Macklin - I see this one as a good fight also, this is the point in Macklins career where we are gunna tell if he's gunna mek it or not
Smedly & Brookes - Just two local fighters for me, so i'd obviously take an interest

Maybe i've looked on the positive side a bit to much but it aint bad as what some of you lot are making out.

It is just you mate :TU: :)

Seriously, as soon as the Hatton fight is over, I am going to turn over and try and catch Nelson/Cantatore or vise versa. I have no time for the Sheffield undercard, I will be out on the town after the evenings 2 big fights!

In my view the undercard is as bad as what I expect from Sportsnetwork. I paid PPV last time because Tzyu was in the other corner....but not this time. I'll catch the repeats that Sky show.

Its a better undercard than Hatton vs Tszyu thats for sure, but the main event isn't overly appealing. The only chance I gave Maussa is that the legal wranglings have effected Hatton.

When the main event is more of a showcase then a geniune fight a PPV broadcast needs a better undercard than this.

As Boxingchat insunated, if I had the option of buying this on PPV or the Hatton vs Tszyu PPV - I would chose the latter, despite it having a much worse undercard.

If this fight had Woods vs Oboh or Thompson vs Hobson or another fight that would really capture the imagination, then I would chose this one.

Going back to my point about watching the big 2, I wonder if the TV companies will try and make it so that both fights are not on at the same time. I'm not sure that it will be possible as I think an Italian TV company (Rai TV?) are filming the Nelson fight. It will be interesting to see the viewing figures of the 2 fights... :box:

Montiero wont be fighting as he's contracted to SN according to Andy Ayling, now I know that doesn't mean he wont fight - given the bill topper but....

No chance....ITV4 shows Nelson at 10pm, as does RAI 2. PPV starts at 9pm I think, but imagine it'll be build up and or chief support, with Blue Moon at 10pm.

Absolute crap, not only is Hatton/Maussa not worth paying 10 pence for (but I might end up buying it anyway to encourage Sky to show more boxing) but the undercard is shameful. I take it you were joking when you said it was worth watching. This is even worse than the undercard when Danny Williams fought that European bum that swung his shots like mad and was all over the place, and even tried a 'round the back shot'. That was shocking but this one looks a lot worse and I too will be hitting the pub/town after Hatton. (if I buy it)

Isn't Nelson on ITV?

Yes, at the same time as the Sky PPV. Just had Sky+ installed so will record ITV and check out the ITV card later on.

The Hatton PPV is not the best but I want to see it, and Maussa is pretty awkward so could be tougher than expected. Plus it will stop me going out and mashing up at least £100 in a night! ;) :D

Disagree - the Hatton-Maussa is still a unification clash. The undercard IS shit though.

They are showing PBF vs Mitchell, though that is not live of course...
