Eubank Bankrupt

BANKRUPT EUBANK'S 900FT TAXI JOURNEY
FORMER boxer Chris Eubank hired a taxi to take him 900ft from Harvey Nichols to Harrods yesterday - as a judge declared him bankrupt.
Dressed in his trademark riding boots and jodhpurs and carrying a designer "manbag", he shrugged off his money woes by visiting two of the most expensive shops in London.
The former middleweight champ, who earned more than £10million in the ring, owes £1.3million in VAT.
It's thought other creditors are owed thousands more.
Before yesterday's two-minute hearing at the High Court, which he did not attend,he said: "Over the years, I wish I had taken better advice.
"I want to put this behind meand get on with my life.

Extravagance The court order is the third blow to the 39-year-old this year. In July, it was revealed his wife Karron, 41, had left him.
The same month, it emerged he had been forced to sell the £4million family home. He now lives there as a tenant.
Eubank's financial problems follow years of extravagance.
He had a passion for expensive cars, including a £100,000 bomb-proof Hummer truck, which cost £22,000 to deliver, and a £200,000 Aston Martin that cost £25,000 to insure.
He insisted on travelling first class, with an entourage including a hairdresser, portrait artist and tax lawyer.
Yesterday, his spokesman said Eubank was just back from South Africa, where he helped build houses for the poor

Poor Chris
I actually feel sorry for the fella, i never liked Eubank for years, i literally hated the man, but then after reading his autobiography last year my opinion changed of him.
Best of luck Chris.

I have the opposite feeling.
I was always a fan and liked him on the couple of time I met him.
But, anyone who pisses £10million up against a wall is very hard to drag up sympathy for when most people could live a long and comfortable lifetime on 1/10th of that.
What next for CE? Calzaghe at LH?

Nice to see he's still getting cabs everywhere. When these celebs declare themselves bankrupt more often than not they have plenty stashed away. Call me cynical but the timing of his split with his Mrs and then declaring himself bankrupt all seems a bit too convenient.

Always liked Chris, though I didn't enjoy watching those endless Sky WBO defences.
Doesn't sound like he's learned how to handle his cash does it? Really hope it doesn't mean a comeback

I think it's fair to say that paying for a tax lawer to accompany him in first class travelling and then ending up with an unmanageable tax bill is the work of a pretty clueless individual.

Yep, I thought that, he's probably got assets stashed somewhere and doesn't want the missus to get hold of anything.

I didn't realise he had split with his missus? They always seemed like a pretty solid pairing. Who knows what goes on behind closed doors though. I'm not so worried about a comeback, i just hope this doesn't mean another TV show

Maybe he will now present "Youth Hostelling With Chris Eubank" for some extra cash.

Or assets may have been transferred into her name and the split is not for real.

Or she was in it for the money - she seemed like a decent sort though on their TV programme.

Doubt she was just in it for the money, after all she stuck it out for years and gave him a few kids too.

Sorry to hear about Eubank's troubles, I always liked him and his crazy ways
It's news to me about this split with his wife, only found out reading the posts here. Can anyone give me a run through on what I missed?
If Mike Tyson can blow all the money he earned, its not impossible for Chris to have done the same. When you spend big and money is badly managed then some day the well will run dry.
They should give him a TV slot, hes always great viewing
With money troubles and a split from his wife so it seems, he's having bad time.

It's almost inevitable....perhaps he could be the umpire in 'Monkey Tennis'
I don't see Chris making a comeback, think he's well beyond that now.

I know that his agent has been touting around another biog concept recently
He can still get a hefty advance that way, I am sure. enough to keep him in monacles for a few weeks

Eubank is too canny to lose it all, and with his personality he will always be able to earn a living.
What does he gain the most by being declared bankrupt? £1.3+ million debt being wiped out
Very canny
