Eh, we'll see what he's made out of when he tries Gatti...Ingemar Johanssen was a bum...Nielsen?? he managed 10 with Tyson, and beat Holmes, but I do believe Holmes was way past his prime...Think of it=

Got many ghettos in Scandanavia? Well-fed well-educated young men do not need to go out and get bashed about. They can play football.

Ask yourself why young men went a'viking in the dark ages. Those circumstances don't exist today.

However, if you're really driven, get some money-men together and have a boxing/tough man tournament. Put up a big enough prize and broadcast it all over the region. Who knows, you might just find a diamond in the rough.

dude dont be ashamed of being scandinavian, there are some good nordic/germanic fighters the ones you mentioned as well as marcus beyer, heck we rule the supermiddleweight division

You should always be proud of where you're from. Maybe i'm just saying that cause i'm Mexican and i've never had any problems with a shortage of great Mexican boxers. Anyway, be proud of where you're from.

Sweden is a beautiful country maybe it just doesn't breed the anger in it's youth that streers them towards fighting?

It is also a very small country in population compared to Germany and the UK so they are bound to have less fighters more so when professional fighting is banned there.

those scandinavians are too busy competing in strongman contests and javelin throwing competitions. power and strength seems to be their forte.

Something you'd nevvvvver see in North America.

DR.. look up Johny Bredahl, Jorgen "Gamle" Hansen, Battling Nelson (involved in possibly the most savage fight EVER!), Tom Bogs etc. - there are plenty of great fighters from for instance Denmark.

In fact Denmark is the country in the world with most talent per capita!

Remember there are only 5 mill people, so it is in fact amazing to have so many good fighters. And even more so if you think that denmark is one of the 2-3 richest countries in the world, meaning that noone has to fight to live well. There are no ghettos and the amateur scene is very small. So all in all it is amazing that talents like Bredahl or Kessler can emerge from so few people.

Ever since i saw this thread I knew there must have been a least one great fighter from the Midwest, who was of Scandinavian birth or descent, I've been racking my brains but couldn't remeber one. But Battling Nelson is an excellent shout nice one Deram.

Main problem is that pro boxing is illegal in Sweden and Norway so they always have to go to other countries if they want to be pros.
