Am I right or wrong in assuming that his ‘ring name’ meant he was a boxer? I have a letter written by Sgt. Yeo Thomas (Nov 1939) in which he mentions his humble efforts in “Boxing” And he also talks about his disappointment of the “draw”.

The book ‘The White Rabbit’ is the story of his life as an intelligence officer in the 2nd WW. He was born in London 1901 but lived much of his life in Paris. He died in 1964.

So far I have been unable to find any reference to him in connection to boxing. He refers to his ring name – old Swansea family name.

I read the book a long time ago (probably about 40 years back) and I don't recall any reference in it to his boxing - but like I say it was a long time ago so I may be mistaken.

I'd take a guess that maybe he had some amateur fights (at school?) and thought that "Eddie Thomas" sounded a bit more suitable for the ring than his full name, particularly if he would have been introduced as "Edward Yeo Thomas" ...just a guess!
