Now that was impressive from "Damon" - as John McDonald called him. A real masterclass. I really rate Napa but it was domestic vs world class. Best I have seen Kelly in a long time, that was world class.

I scored it 8-2 to Kelly. I thought things were getting interesting in the 4th. At the time, that was the biggest round of the fight and it went to Napa. I was thinking "Kelly is fighting at his best and now Napa seems to be getting on top".... Then Kelly raised his game again and his handspeed was incredible, compared to Napa.

I agree Stu, I had it to 8-2 to Kelly as well.

Really enjoyed the fight as well, it was great to watch two fine Boxers actually 'Boxing'. Napa gave it his best but Kelly was just a level above. The SKY team kept talking about Kellys reach and height advantage which was of course a factor, but I felt Kellys speed of hand and foot was more of a problem for Napa.

Kelly may well be the UK's most skilled active Boxer and the guy has to have a day job. to support his family and yet Audley Harrison is a millionaire!!!! Lets hope Kelly gets a few big fights and big paydays soon.

Finally hats off to SKY for showing such a fine NON-TITLE fight live and top of the bill. I never thought I would see those days again.

Yes, the hand speed was a factor. That was a world class display from Kelly in my eyes. It would need to take a world class fighter to outclass Napa in that manner, Napa to his credit was game throughout.

They put the Tony Dodson fight on right after the Kelly-Napa bout but sadly they packed all the cameras away before it. Dodson came storming out and you just knew by the end of the first his opponent wouldnt last another round, nailing him on the ropes with several flush shots. He finished it in the (i thought it was the 2nd but apparently its down as 3rd???) flooring Szabolcs Rimovszky with a combination in the corner.

Good posts, I agree with you guys. An excellent 10 rounds for both men... big thanks to Sky for putting it on.

Thanks for the heads up Neri. How much were the tickets? It was a shame to see empty seats in what looked a really nice venue... cool ringwalks in particular, even if they were a little bit dangerous.

The tickets where £30 all areas. Was an okay night of boxing but i didn't think it justified the price (a cheapskate who was expecting it to be £20 ). It really was a poor turnout but it was hastily arranged in only 2 weeks, i think it was more about getting Kelly and some of the local fighters some much needed exposure and activity.

I sat in the front row balcony because i preferred the view but could have strolled down and got a seat at ringside if i wished. It seemed to be true fight fans and fighters family and friends mostly. The ring walks gave me a chuckle as Kelly and Napa both had to walk past everyone to the other side of the venue walk up the curving stairs only to walk back down them for the Sky cameras.

I thought the Jason Cook fight should have been declared a No Contest.

The promoters did well to get it on Sky.

I'm going to the same venue next sunday for cage fighting. I have never been to one of these before so will be interesting. I assume it will be similar to UFC.

Thanks for the post. It takes a while to build up a boxing scene (success breeds success) and the first step is always the hardest. Those steps in the hall could've been hard to negotiate also, funny that they had to run up then run back down. I was waiting for someone to go a clanger head first down them during the live broadcast.

I'm glad no one did fall as we already had to witness the castration of Jason Cook.

Pro shows in liverpool are not that regular so its impossible to build a bit of a reputation for themselves as promoters. Everton Park Sports centre used to have regular shows on with cracking fights on. Packed the small hall out everytime. Was very popular but that doesnt happen anymore.

Got to see McKeever-Mulholland I and Burke-Hibbert and such fighters as Jamie Moore, Tony Dodson, Michael Jones, Paul Smith and Derry Matthews so its a shame they don't take place anymore.

And historically Leicester is supposed to be a Boxing town.

Very enjoyable contest. I could have watched them match their skills against each other all night. Kelly rightly got the decision. Damaen just never stops moving and is such a correct puncher. Probably the UK's outstanding flyweight of the last 5 years.

Good tussle between Pinder and Buchanan, shame on Sky for only showing 3 of the 6 ounds.

Don't know about Kelly being world class. IMO he didn't beat Mahmutov or Jason Booth. And he'll almost certainly be heading for another beating when the second title shot comes up.

I thought Mahmutov beat Kelly too. The Booth result was fair though IMO.

It was a good, close fight but I thought Kelly beat Booth.
