Travelling from Prestwich Aiport in Scotland to visit parents I always pass through a small town called Newmains where there is a statue of a boxer. Always rushing I've never had the chance to stop and have a look but on Sunday I did.
Its of a boxer called Jim Murray who died tragically from injuries sustained during a British Bantamweight challenge in 1995. The satue has him wearing the Scottish Bantamweight Title. I would have taken a picture but I was in hte middle of a blizzard!
I can't seem to find anymore info on him, does anyone remember him? Seen him fight? Etc Etc.
Boxers who have the guts and courage to step into the ring get my full respect, and desverve to be remembered so any info people have would be great.
