Straight off his closish points loss to Vidoz, Sprott makes his 3rd consecutive appearance on foreign soil (has he been signed by Spotlight or something). This time its in Austria on the 13th of December (Tuesday).

Unfortunately, it looks like unlikely 13th for Sprott as he takes on Vladimir Virchis for the WBO Intercontinental strap. A win could propel Sprott maybe even further than what a Vidoz win would have done.

However, I think he is even less likely to pull this one off - Virchis looks like a geniune world class contendor.

Virchis hits like a tonn of bricks but can be outboxed - he'll get to Sprott though and Ko him at some point. Glad Virchis is stepping up the HWs needs every exciting prospect they can get their hands on

Virchis was outboxed for most of his fight with Taras Bidenko, but his huge power in both fists is a real leveller, and when he finally caught the Ukrainian late on it really was lights out. I see Sprott going the same way.

how so?

got mauled by skelton to an 11th round defeat, got beat by williams twice (dont care what the ref scored it).

Sprott is a nice boxer buit he has no instinct at all, i think he is rated about right.

The 4th best in britain.

Interestingly Virchis couldnt stop our boy Julius...
Guys with real "world class" power normally do

ie Vitali, Tyson, Maskaev, Mavrovic, Ruiz

Obviously its not always simple as that, but an interesting little aside ;-)

Something mentally isn't right with Sprott, he has skills, and surprising punchpower when he really plants his feet, but he seems to lack the fire of a genuine top level fighter. He's a bit on the small side for a heavyweight, but that doesn't seem to be his real problem, it seems to be more mental than physical.

Agree that he seems to lack a bit of self belief sometimes, but also his chin isn't that good , so i'd call that a physical fault as well

Chin does seem to be slightly a mental thing aswell as a physical thing....

Williams v Tyson/Vitali and then Samil Sam for example....

I think to a certain extent it is mind over matter.... Guys like Marvin Hagler just refused to be hurt.... ;-)

Maybe but when Sprott gets caught right he goes, Williams, Senior, Llewelyn and Sanders all knocked him out, if the lights go out when your caught then theres nothing that you can do mentally.

In the Skelton fight i thought it was mental, he seemed to switch off once he knew that he couldn't get Skelton onto the back foot.

I was ringside at his appearance vs Vidoz and was very disappointed. He won´t get such a chance again. Vidoz didn´t do that much, but unbelievably Sprott did less. Virchis is far more better than Vidoz. It depends on Sprotts chin whether Virchis wins by KO or PTS.....

sprott's only lost to world class fighters of late..... his destruction of Potter and one punch ko of Kenna were pure class... his win over koc in germany was nothing short of a miracle..... and check out the controversial 2nd fight with Danny Williams, its a boxing masterclass (up until highly dubious KO)..... the virchis fight is not a foregone conclusion at all.

Idon't think Williams is world class, and I don't think Skelton has proven himself world class yet.

I don't think Sprott is as good a boxer as Bidenko and I think Virchis hits harder than Skelton. This together with Sprott's fagile makeup means he'll get stopped late imo unless he can somehow hurt Virchis which I think is very unlikely.

Hope he's earning well from these fights in Europe
