Floyd Mayweather: The fight that everyone wants to see made but has a high risk of defeat for Hatton. Would have huge box office appeal, both fighters in their prime, both undefeated with decent KO records and both perceived to be the top two around their weight class. Could be the Leonard-Duran of our time.

Miguel Cotto: A very attractive fight for Hatton. Cotto got a lot of praise early in his career and has built a name on it facing decent but not fantastic opposition. Cotto has looked vulnerable in his last few fights and it is a fight that Hatton would have a good chance of winning with his high work rate vs Cottos tendency to switch off occasionally.

Joes Luis Castillo: Hugely marketable fight. Castillo after his wars with Corrales is at the peak of his marketabilty and a fight with Hatton would draw tons of $$$. The fight would be an absolute war and a real pick em for who would come out on top. The choice that I am personally rooting for since a Mayweather fight seems unlikely.

Junior Witter: An all British double world title fight would be a huge draw, especially one that has been years in the making like Witter-Hatton. Hatton in my book destroys Witter at this stage of their careers but a very respectable and profitable fight to make and one that could capture the publics imagination.

Arturo Gatti: An exciting but faded fighter and not a fight that Hatton should be looking to make. Gatti got dismantled in 6 by Hattons rival Floyd Mayweather and that destroyed any appeal that a fight with Gatti should have for Hatton. It would be good while it lasted but would do nothing for Hattons career.

Diego Corrales: Coming off of a defeat to Castillo, Corrales is still a very respectable opponent for Hatton. The fight would be fireworks and would probably sell off of the anticipation of the leather flying alone but it is a fight I could see Hatton winning after a few rounds of trading leather.

Vivian Harris: The defeat against Maussa destroyed any market value that Harris had. Priced himself out of a fight with Hatton once but may be more willing to listen to offers now. Not an attractive fight for Hatton. Harris is dangerous and only lost to Maussa from under preperation. Harris will come into the fight in top shape and super motivated to get himself back in the mix should Hatton pursue this fight, high risk, little reward for Hatton.

Soulemayne M'Baye: A fight that Hatton could win handily and probably make a few quid off if it was played from the angle that it is Hatton Vs Warren and not Hatton Vs M'Baye. Still would be a disappointing fight to see him placed in.

There is 8 options presented to Hatton there and all stand to make him a lot of money but will he make the right choice legacy wise? A List choices = Mayweather, Cotto, Castillo. B List = Witter. C List = Gatti, M'Baye, Corrales, Harris

No was is Corrales C list mate. Despite the loss he is still box office material and one of the most ferocious punchers around.

Entertainment wise I would love to see Hatton Vs Judah, if not Hatton Vs Mayweather at Madison Square Garden would be good enough.

THe Mayweather fight will not happen, Hatton has too much to loose and Mayweather will not be interested without the lion shair of the money esspecially as he is trying to be a three weight champion or what ever.

Other than that Hatton could consevebly make all those fights if he has fights in quick succession after his lay off. Assuming it will be 6 months although an optemistic part of me can see him fighting on the DLH mayorga undercard in may (don't know why just have a feeling about that one) then he could try to fight every three or 4 months and get some of these real tests in. Esspecially if he sticks to the easy ones (Gatti Corrales etc).

The main world fight he is looking for is Cotto because that is the easyest title. Don't think he will fight Witter without any kind of title on the line though.

I've mentioned a fair few fighters who I would like to see Hatton in with, but for explosive action - Acelino Freitas vs Hatton could be something else.

Acelino is an underated boxer, still exceptional power, vulnerable.

It would be explosive and Freitas still has a huge following.

Its a C lister in terms of that list, good descriptions by Cannibal although I think both Corrales and Gatti should be ahead of Witter in terms of legacy defining (Witter hasn't done anything at world level yet). I think a fight with Freitas would do better for Hatton's legacy than a fight with Harris.

Hatton will be made WBA super champ as he is a unified champion and M'Baye will fight for the 'normal' WBA title. So fighting him is some way off, and Tszyu fulfilled the IBF mandatory against Hatton in June.

I've got a feeling that sometime in 2006 we will see Cotto - Hatton, great fight but the fight i really want to see is PBF-Hatton

I think Hatton would beat Mayweather.

Mayweather is a classy, flashy boxer. But only when the opponent has allowed him to be and he can be hurt.

Hatton would not give him time to think and I feel he would mentally destroy Mayweather.

Would be a great fight though (my opinion of course)

This thread is good - well layed out, with all the options. Maybe it should be a sticky? Can't speak for anyone else, but we're only at day 3 and all the posturing about opponents and XYZ belts is doing my fornicating nut in basically.

What you've got to argue , when refering to Hatton-Mayweather is that Mayweather has been in with 2 fighters that are harder hitters to head and body than the Hitman.

Diego Corrales - Many say he has no chin and this and that ... but even if he did , he would still have got beaten by Mayweather , that fight showed wht he is all about .. Great skill and power.

Jose Luis Castillo - A great fighter , and he was well beaten (imo) two times by Mayweather. I think Castillo and Hatton are fairly similar - both can box , but choose not to by brawling with opponents in close quarters.

If Hatton-Mayweather happens , as much as i'd love to see Hatton shut the 'Yanks' gob , i cant see it happening. Mayweather by at least 8 rounds.

If i had to, i'd rather take one to the body from Castillo than from Hatton!

Hatton would take care of Coralles with not to much trouble, but Castillo would be a much tougher fight, though i would still make Hatton a good favourite. Its one i would love to see, but first up should be Hatton v Cotto or Mayweather, or even Judah.

For what its worth, i thought Coralles was lucky to win the first fight with Castillo, was outmanned in the second and will get the same treatment in their third encounter. Castillo has his number!

Mayweather, Cotto, Judah..... those are the names i want to see Hatton fighting in his next outing..... nobody else!
