Is keeping busy with a fight with ever dangerous T.B.A on dec 10th in germany. After his last performance i hope they step up his opposition to british level at least .

Expecting big things for this guy and if he and nicky cook get it on it will be very interesting and closely matched fight.

Going to Germany is not a great sign. I'm pretty sure he was selling out the National Arena in Dublin his last few fights, and has had his recent bouts televised on RTE; and he is gaining in popularity. Don't know why he'd want to go away to fight.

He is keeping busy i reckon, the fights in dublin have been successful and rte are meant to be covering this fight in germany as its on the abraham undercard so it cant be a bad thing i reckon.

Is probably a case where RTE bourght the rights to show the card and in return get a local fighter on the card, same thing when polish/hungarian fighters are on british cards.

Sounds about right i was in dublin for the last fight and rte gave a huge chunk of saturday night to cover both dunnes and rocks fights and are meant to be very pleased with the way the last few shows have gone.

I know a few of the lads involved in the shows and they couldnt sell enough tickets and could have half filled the stadium again so i dont think it will be the last fight dunne has in dublin and hopefully another show will be put on early 2006.

I can't imagine they'd buy the rights to a fight and try to get a local fighter on there. They show NO boxing on Irish TV, I can't remember the last time they showed a professional fight live on RTE, prior to Dunne. Anybody know? Even in the Steve Collins days, those fights were all on Sky.

They probably bought the rights under the condition dunne was on the card, i dont know the ins and out and im getting this off Irish-boxing. com whereas boxrec hasnt got the fight up yet but irish-boxing.com seems fairly reliable to me.

I can't belive he moved down to 122. He looked incredibly skinny at 125 against Valdez.

Were the Carruth fights on RTE?

He honestly didnt look to bad in his last fight apparently he got down to the weight properly and has been working witha nutritionist for some time now.

If he can maintain weight then all the better to him. I stuggle to make 147. so I guess 122 (from 125) is not that hard.

prior to the bernard dunne fights, the last (pro) fight on rte was a wayne mccullough fight. i think it may have been gthe zaragoza fight in 1997. that was only a once off though and IIRC it was shown on a sunday afternoon with very little fanfare beforehand. i think that before that you'd be looking at the mcguigan fights for their last committed showing of pro boxing, though i'm not sure because that was before i was born.

Dunne is fighting a super bantamweight now , which is good for him as i think that he would fall short at world class featherweight.

As for Cook-Dunne , i believe that Cook would win and win well. Dunne has struck me as being fairly one-dimensional , who loses all concentration when he has not blasted out his opponent. Cook has a bit of everything , power , skills etc. He reminds me a bit of Clinton Woods in the way he does nothing exceptional but does them well.

Cook a world champion?????

Not a bad analogy that one. Experience benefits those type of fighters too, as they learn to put it all together as they have more fights.

I think you are being harsh about dunne its true that he lost concentration in his fight with voronin in the last round but he couldnt blast him out because voronin is a tough tough man who hadnt been stopped and the calibre of opponent that dunne fought in the states was good for a guy starting out as in they were tough mexicans who could take a dig and give dunne something to think about instead of the guys he was blasting out in the very early part of his career.

We will obviously disagree about dunne vs cook as i think its a quite even match up as it goes in all departments and then why is cook fighting voronin now after dunne already beat him convincingly apart from the shaky last round.

I dont think it is unrealistic to see both dunne and cook up around world level in the not to distant future and its goo dto have guy slike thi swho could possibly be a big domestic rivalry for the 5 years or more if they keep progressing and winning.

Cook is getting better with every fight, and I do think he's a potential world champion. I'd say he's nearly on Scott Harrison's level already, and unlike Scott still has the potential to improve in most areas. Wasn't there some talk of him fighting Robert Guerrero recently?

Dunne meets Daniel Kodjo Sassou on Saturday. The fight is the 7th fight on the card adn just before the Abraham vs Ikeke fight.

How long is the programme and by any chance they are showing the Ikeke - Abraham fight ??

The programme on RTE lasts from 8:30 - 10:30 so this would hopefully mean that they will show the Ikeke - Abraham fight live also which would be beautiful .

ARD starts at 9.35 UK time so it looks like you will get Abraham vs Ikeke also.

Good work rte!! with a bit of luck the two shows wont clash to much but being irish dunne will get priority. Well for the three rounds it lasts anyway.
