Ah come in. I laughed my ass off too, but give the guy a break. He's obviously geographically challenged.

I would laugh but the air is so thin up here in Leicester I may faint.

That was my first thought, but being a Yank I thought I'd not lump myself in with him.

 The funny thing isn't the ignorance that Manchester isn't at altitude, it the fact after about 10 people corrected him he wouldn't believe them and stuck to his guns.

He must have meant latitude. I'm at 45° and sometimes I get a little dizzy. Being at 50°+ would really throw me off.

Brilliant stuff! It takes some doing being the dumbest on the current scene (no offence to the triumvirate of excellent posters over there).

He must come from one of those places where they all live in the hills marry their mothers and try and kill Burt Renolds when he's trying to have a quiet canoe trip.... :o :o :o :o :o scarey!...

Jesus wept....

Perhaps they should change 'Children In Need' to 'Yanks In Need'.

I'd donate.

I read that on the current scene. And yes, that is the most ridiculous post I've ever seen in the 10 years I've been using the internet. I'd stand up for the guy, but he made the 'altitude' mistake 3 times......

I actually think it's helping boxing, though: I happened to mention it to my brother (who lives in Manchester) and I'm pretty sure that now, half of Manchester now knows about Boxrec.com. Although perhaps not in a good way....... If we have an influx of drunk students from the north-west of England, it's my fault.

I did like this quote from the original thread.....
mr cool breeze wrote:

Manchester is at sea level you dumb ass. this is an island we are talking about here...duh

yep. because britain is an island its totally flat and everything is the same level... its all sea level infact.

I did wonder what those fish were doing when I was at the top of Ben Nevis earlier in the year...

Just because somewhere is an island doesn't mean it is all at sea level, if it were then it would flood all the time like Tonga.

Fact is though, there isn't a single peak in britain high enough to induce altitude problems.
