Presuming Carl wins his fight tonight (which he should), do any of you think Carl will be ready for a world title shot by the end of 2006 ???

Its gunna be an intersting year for Carl in 2006, i mean being signed with DLH he can fight guys from over in the USA or he could challenge for the European belt & make defences of that if he should win it.

2 more fights after tonight could see him land a world title shot..i'd have him to beat tyskpo (?) now..or i would have done if i hadn't have just check to see if he was still EBU champ which he isn't it's some french guy who i know nowt about so i don't know?...personally i'd like him to stay away from the european title as i feel it bogs down fighters.look at howard eastman instead of kicking on after the joppy fight he went on with the european fights and didn't develope imo

Yeah, it's hard to know what to think of Chanet. I've seen scant little of him, but an unbeaten fighter always has some degree of unpredictability. Disagree slightly about the EBU. It is a relatively credible title, and gets you a decent ranking within the orgs. re Eastman, It's to do with how you take your chances and manage your position.

However, I do see the merits in going a completely different route ie. two or three big fights in the US (which I'm sure golden boy would get him) will have the same effect.

I'd put my money on a Magee fight at some point though, probably first up in the New Year.

So far he's done things the right way (IMO) English, British, Commonwealth so the natural progression would be the European title and Chanet sounds useful.

First I'd love Carl to win a Londsdale belt outright and he needs 2 more defences of his British to achieve that and then start his crusade on Europe. If he can win and defend the EBU crown he would surely be in a stong position to go for one of the big 3 titles by early 2007.

He should (and will) be targetting the Euro title which will automatically put him in striking distance of a World title. I reckon it will be Magee next, hopefully followed by Chanet (never seen him) and then its just a matter of waiting for or forcing his World title shot

I reckon he'll win tonight, then fight Chanet early next year, then - assuming he wins that - move on to a proper world title fight either against Kessler or the winner of Calzaghe-Lacy.

win a euro title and a top 10 contender should c him get to no1 with a sanctioning body.

if calzaghe beats lacy the division will become splintered again as joe plans on moving up.

definitely opportunities there for froch if he keeps winning.

And once he gets no. 1 with a sanctioning body, which one of the current champs can he beat? All of them or?

At 28 he needs to get a little bit of a move on, I would look at Grant and then the WBC route.

frochs gonna come a cropper against the top guys with his defence imo.
