After seeing how quickly Larios was stopped Ricky Hatton watching from ringside must be worried about how he would fare if cut in a fight in the U.S.

Had the Maussa fight been in the U.S. would they even have allowed Hatton to get to the end of the round and let Mick Williamson do his work?

exactly what i thought when i saw it. I dont think the Larios cut was any worse than the first one of Hatton's.

they love bringing in the doctors don't they.

i'd keep hatton well away meself. can't blame hatton for wanting to fight in vegas though.

was the larios cut bleeding very heavily though? as ricky's cuts seem to be quickly sorted and there wasnt a lot of bleeding considering how deep the first one looked.

Mick Williamson did an excellent job and i dont think if the fight took place in the US it would have been stopped in the round the cut occurred. The bleeding was stemmed effectively to stop it being a factor in the result. It wasnt as if Rickys face was covered in blood throughout the fight or the cut a Vitali cut (although that is an extreme example).

The stoppage did seem a bit quick, but Larios was gettin knocked about a bit. Perhaps if he had made a better fight of it the doc would have let him carry on.

The fight was brewing quite nicely. Vasquez had the power to stop Larios at any time it seemed, but there were large spells in the fight in which Vasquez just stalked and Larios was jabbing his head off.

If Larios would have not got knockdown but wobbled during the Vasquez attacks it would have been interesting to see how the judges would have scored the round.

Larios didn't complain at all about the stoppage. The HBO commentators described the cut as being very similar to the one that stopped Vitali against Lewis. Doesn't Hatton have to fight Ben Rabah next?

The cut looked pretty bad from what i saw, a deep enough slash, but i agree the referee's are not shy about "calling in the doctor".

Larios's eye lid was split, thats trouble if he gets hit their again...

I thought it was a very premature stoppage till I saw the cut close up and it was horrendous... the actual eyelid seemed to be torn... very nasty and that stoppage may save Larios' career by preventing any further damage... as it is he could well have problems with that in the future....

Like Hatton said he was reckless, look for him to take the piss in his next fight, n yes he will beat them over in the US, Cum on you British boys.

True Ricky didn't get cut on the actual eyelid - thats dangerous - I don't think they would have stopped it if the cut wasn't in such a sensitive area.

Yes, I'm not saying the US do not stop fights due to cut damage easier than the over here (been a few occasions where I have said - "why isn't the fight stopped") - A few Craig Docherty fights and Hatton vs Thaxton are two. However, Larios' cut was terrible, Vasquez knew it was over as soon as he saw it - before it was officially over.

Whilst refs are more happier to let the doctor look at the cut earlier, occasionally fights can go on longer than it should have (Klitchsko vs Lewis as an example).
