Just saw Sergey Dzindzurek's win on Sky. Very impressed. Thought he pretty much dominated. I also think he could become the division's top dog based on this.
I was meant to converse with a couple of poster's on this forum about the fight as I had avoided seeing the result all night in order to enjoy Sky's late broadcast. Accidently I posted it on the Current Scene so now I look like a complete frickin' moron.
Anyway.......the Ukranian looks good.

Yes, very impressed - I would like to see a rematch between the two, whilst Dzindiruk was a deserving winner - Santos had been inactive and I think it showed a little.

A most enjoyable fight (one for Steve thread) and a worthy winner.

The winner of the undercard fight shown though was no-where near world class, and as for the refereeing so bias all he wanted to do was touch the eventual winners arse throughout the contest.

I agree, technically it was an excellent contest, shame to see Santos looking so rusty but nothing he could do slowed down Dzindziruk who had a class jab and an all round solid look, everytime Santos leaned in and missed he was made to pay more often than not. It would be interesting to see the Ukranian in with Roman Karmazin, i know it is only my first viewing but you i would also give him a decent chance in with Mayorga, tucking up and taking those wild swings on the gloves and countering...i could see him pulling it off.

Even in the eighth when he knocked Santos down he has just ridden a double jab and a left and didn't flinch just dropped to the side and whacked Santos with a right hook. I think that knocked a lot out of the champion, let's hope Dzindziruk now goes on and fights some of the other champions. Would be a shame to see him remain in Germany and defend his WBO strap against a series of lower grade opposition like Erdei has done with his WBO Light Heavy belt.

What undercard fight was shown?

Robert Steiglitz (spelling) vs Ajendandro Barrios. Steiglitz is apparently the number 1 contender for Lacy now, no problems for Jeff there.

OK, it was a walk-out bout so there was no mention of it on the the ZDF broadcast (Stieglitz is not a Universum fighter)

Dzindiruk looked good, took shots very well. the right hook in the 8th was a nice shot, good, fast hands. I was unimpressed with Steiglitz, Lacy should stomp all over him, though the Colombian chap was awkward to fight.

Of course, he could be Calzaghe's next opponent - Lacy might not be IBF champion come March.

I think Lacy will win beat Joe though.

So do I. its a shame five years ago Joe needed a fight like this, but now he's on the decline. I'm still not ruling him out though.

Yes, very much thought he looked the business in there. But history shows the Germans like to keep their champions at home ( like the UK these days ) so I reckon it'll be a long run of WBO defences for this guy.


But on the face of it, he just might be the top dog at lightmiddle already.

I was also very impressed by Dzindziruk. He has that classic eastern european style, and actually reminds me a little of Felix Sturm, but with better power and maybe even a little more variety. He also passed the "chin" test with flying colours, shipping at least one excellent shot from Santos (who is no light hitter) with even looking like going down.

Love to see him in there with Karmazin.

I was rooting for Alejandro Berrio in the Stieglitz fight. I'd never heard of him before, but he looked great. As for the ref, it reminded me of Ottke-Reid. Although some of Berrio's shots were low, he got warnings he didn't deserve IMO. Just out of interest, what was the nationality of the referee?
