Roman Greenberg

Roman Greenberg's fight was a snoozer, wasn't it? Wasn't as bad as Williams vs Audley, but still boring.

personally I think Greenberg is boring he has no charisma, although he is touted as and I suppose is a prospect

I didn't think Greenberg was that bad. Needs to sort his defence out, Watt may have been right (for once) that it was a concentration thing.

He showed some superb one-twos, lightning speed straight down the middle, it's a shame he isn't a big puncher or we would really be talking about a prospect....

He does his thing, he's quite busy and when you see the pair that 'fought' last week maybe you think he isn't that bad. I'd fancy him against Harrison or Williams right now.

Not the next coming of Lennox Lewis but a decent enough fighter and only 23 don't forget....

I like his skills, but he needs to work on his defense and workrate. He is a nice technical boxer in some ways, but lacks a little polish and badly needs someone to teach him how to get leverage in his shots. If he does he could still have a good career.

His arms look really short too.

Greenberg isn't going anywhere, but he has one of the funniest accents I have heard. "Alright mate Geezer, I must break you".

I was ringside, and I thought he was very good. Funny sport boxing!

His oppo was extremely durable, and at times combative. I think Greenberg is going places, but he needs to go there soon, thats the key IMHO.

His speed and accuracy are very good. He just needs to fight people that might actually beat him.

I think his defense is very poor and that head movement is totally non-existent, has no power whatsoever and he will get bowled over by the first puncher he meets.....other than that he is looking good

Watching him right now on 2am repeat and had to get up in case I fell asleep. Chubby, short-armed, no workrate, so open to a right hand it's stupid.

First real test he comes up against he's in trouble

This was Greenbergs first real test and he passed it with flying colours.

Releford is a converted southpaw with good all round skills, good defense and chin, with a lovely jab.

Greenberg paced himself well, threw some lovely one two combinations. OK he's not Tyson, but his punches are stinging and damaging if he throws combinations.

Look into Relefords record and his opponents record. This guy is not far short of the likes of Monte Barrett.

Greenberg spun Barrett off the ropes very well a number of times and threw some nice uppercuts inside whilst aginst the ropes.

Both fighters worked the body in close and from range.

A good quality Heavyweight fight, for those who appreciate two well skilled evenly matched fighters, in shape.

Certainly, a refreshing HW contest which will help us get over the woefully inadequate display of Harrison and Williams.

If I were to criticize Roman it would be that he sometimes takes half a round off, admiring his work, instead of going for the kill.

Still I reckon he is the best HW prospect in the UK right now.

Its just a pity that most people who watch boxing want to see KO's, they are not happy with a distance fight with good quality work from both boys.

Philistines!

I've watched Greenberg a few times, and I don't see him going anywhere. Too small and not enough power to go anywhere. His defence is wide open too.

Admittedly he is young, and has plrenty of time, but I think he's going to get undone when he faces a decent puncher which he hasn't so far.

I prefer to look at positives and looking at this thread again this morning I wholeheartedly agree with KO Artists post.

I don't think world domination beckons for Greenberg I think he's the best British Heavyweight and I didn't find the fight that boring, I thought it was quite competative.

Noticed that Sultan Ibragimov annihilated Lance Whittaker, good win that, remember a lot of noise being made over Sultan some time ago, anyone seen any of his recent contests?

Its true that often people just wanna see knockouts and dont appriciate a more technical fighter but in the case of Greenberghe just seems lazy or perhaps nervous. He had Releford on th ropes late on and stepped back rather than finishing the job. If he gets more killer instinct he could do well, but I can't really see him doing anthing much above domestic level.

Roman fights like he's got a Rocky Marciano type chin - hands down like that is very dicey, more so at heavyweight. He's gonna get clobbered by a decent puncher unless he works that out.

Good reflexes, but he really doesn't need to take so many chances if he can help it.

He looks solid enough, but is he always so nice in the ring?

How many fighters would have jumped onto their opponent if they had been distracted by their gumshield falling down their shorts?

He looked as if he was treating the fight like a casual spar, everything was so laid back.

Maybe a more demanding test will bring the best out of him and a bit of nasty-ness also  ...because it was lacking last night.

Yeah, I think he might have scored the knockout if he hadn't done that.

If I'm honest, I actually started to get the impression he might have been carrying him around about the middle rounds.

Am I the only 1 whos been reminded of Audley when watching him - he'll crawl up the rankings with a nicely padded record and get some sort of big fight and be exposed and probably ko'd if its someone decent

Yeah could see this happening. He does have skill but seems so laid back. Perhaps if he fights a good boxer and gets put under pressure he'll pull something out, but I wont hold my breath.

The thing is you could say all heavyweight prospects remind you of Audley. They crawl up the rankings with a nicely padded record. I mean let's face it, 95% of fighters do this.

So other than the fact he reminds me of every other boxer in the world (in the context you refeered to) bar a few exceptional examples then no he doesn't remind of Audley in the slightest.

The point is Greenberg looks to have some good attributes, also some faults, let's see if he can tidy them up and bring those attributes to the fore.

No I just meant stylewise a bit like Audley (who has/had his plus points) but I see Greenberg in a similar vein as been sloppy and not a fighter but with on another note having a higher workrate than Audley - only briefly saw him twice. But definately looks like been hyped under the jewish/white card, and very protected. I dont see him as been anything too special but who knowsI could be wrong he could develop.
