Lockett v Rhodes . Looks like this match is set for March 11th .
great match up this one, i'd favour Lockett to come through with a stoppage,
interesting support with Tony Doherty v Taz Jones

Excellent cross roads fight and a long time coming. So Ryan is ready to step back into the limelight - he's certainly chosen a high risk asignment.
If you have any doubts about your ability to hold a shot, Locket is the last man you want to see across the ring from you.

Good fight, that one. Should be very interesting. Rhodes has looked decent since his "comeback", but I reckon he'll retire if he doesn't get the win against Lockett. I'd make this one 60-40 in Lockett's favour right now, but it could really go either way.

C'mon Tony D!! Had a good interest in tony since he beat a lad i trained with in the gym on the 20point system in the welsh am finals, that same lad went on to win the finals the very next year. Tony is a very talented boxer who i believe can possibly reach the heights of euro level.

met gary lockett in mexico a few years ago after his 1st defeat he was in a mess with his hands and eyes what a nice guy him and his wife what do you think he can do at middlewieght can he be a champ or just top 10 contender or what he been boxing a lot latley not ko every1 do you think hes got it a hope he wins a title and beats rhodes 2 get a shot at the world title or sumfin like that

Lol, Gary aint married, but his bird (at the time) was a nice guy,
Yeah, Gary's an ok bloke, he and his father help out at our amateur gym, and they've always got time for the kids.
I fancy him to retire Rhodes, but I cannot see the logic in making the fight. Rhodes is well thought of @ SN, so why have they given hime such a dangerous opponent?? Not that I am complaining. Gary is due some oppertunities, as he has been shelved for ages now, and time is ticking by. Rhodes wants to hope his defence is watertight, or else Lockett will put him to sleep inside a round.

Locket does bang hard, but he also marks up badly and that is a worry, I dont think Rhodes would have taken the fight if he thought he was going to get ko'd, i think they will have done there homework on Lockett, this will be a close fight i think.

OK, Joe Calzaghe is going to Manchester to fight Jeff Lacy, with the Enzo Maccarinelli-Johnny Nelson showdown pencilled in for the same March 4 event, and Scott Gammer's British heavyweight challenge to Matt Skelton is booked for Nottingham on January 28.
But keep March 11 clear in your diaries.
After watching the Wales v Italy rugby international, you can head for Newport Leisure Centre and see some boxing.
Likely top of the bill is the clash for the vacant WBU middleweight title between Cwmbran's Gary Lockett and Yorkshireman Ryan Rhodes, while the much anticipated Celtic welter rematch between Tony Doherty and Taz Jones is booked as chief support.
'That'll be fantastic for me if it comes off,' said Lockett. 'It'll be great to top the bill rather than be on someone else's undercard.'
Home advantage will also be a blessing, although Gary does not regard it as so important.

Lockett puches like a fornicating mule (from what people tell me) so although he's improved since the Russian beat him i'd give wayne a good chance, Lockett's face always looks awful and he seems to have thin skin so anyone who can stick a jab in his face and tuck up will have a chance, I do think he's had a nightmare over the last 3 years with injuries etc, i'd like to see a few good domestic fights next year.

Well just thought I'd make a note, that the Newport Centre where they are showing this one is a cracking venue.
It's quite small so even the cheapo seats are well close to the ring, and elevated all the way around, so nobody will obscure your view.
If anybody is going to venture down this is right in Jerusalem city so to speak so if you fancy meeting up for a beer after I'm sure I will be celebrating!!

You say Rhodes is well thought of at SN, he hasn't fought above a scheduled 8 rounder in 6 and a half years!!!
I think they've been trying to manouvre him into one last big payday because he's quite marketable but he hasn't even got that left in him.
They are feeding him to Lockett, if he did pull it off then he gets his payday and gets flattened by someone else.

I keep in contact with Wayne Elcock regulary. He would fight Lockett , expect for them to meet for the vacant British title , should Dann win the commonwealth title and Lockett beats Rhodes.
I think Lockett will beat Rhodes by the 7th , btw.

Elcock has still got loads left in the tank - I would fancy him to outbox Locket who, whilst heavy handed, has appeared a little slow the few times I have seen him live.
Got to admit I am biased when it comes to assessing that fight though!

I would tend to agree Lockett does look somewhat slow , although I saw Rhodes fight Blundell a couple of years back....... i'd be extreemly suprised if he won.

Same as me , very biased when it comes to Wayne.
I honestly can see him beating most on the domestic scene at middleweight.
Would like Wayne to fight Bendall. But more than anything Mcdermott that would be a cracker.
