DOC GIVES HATTON ALL-CLEAR

RICKY HATTON has been given the all-clear for a quick return to the ring after making a remarkable recovery.
Hatton feared he would be out for six months after suffering cuts above both eyes in his bloody win over Carlos Maussa last month. The light-welterweight king needed 23 stitches to repair the gashes in an emergency operation straight after the fight.
However, Hatton's decision to have surgery within two hours of the final bell has reduced his recovery time. His plastic surgeon claims he can resume ring work next month and fight again in March.
Hatton's dad and manager, Ray, says the unbeaten Mancunian is delighted and will fight again in the United States in the spring.
"The doc is very pleased and said he would be totally right in six weeks and could fight again in three months," said Ray.
"To be fair, one eye was just a nick, but the other one was serious. If you can get the cuts repaired within 12 hours, the healing time can be cut by 50 per cent. So we called the plastic surgeon straight away and met him at the hospital."
