Anybody know who might have the dubious distinction at any weight ? I know Andrew Golota went 0-4 in heavyweight title fights. I'm going to have to do some checking on this one.

David Vedder

Vedder was a less then impressive 12-8-3 when he challenged Virgil Hill for the WBA Light-Heavyweight title in Feb of 1990 and dropped a 12 rounder. Vedder then received 3 consecutive title bids. On Dec 1992 he dropped a 12 rounder to Jeff Harding for the WBC Light-Heavyweight crown. March of 1993 he dropped a 12 rounder to Anaclet Wamba for the WBC Cruiserweight title and in Dec. of 1993 he lost a 12 rounder to Henry Maske for the IBF Light-Heavyweight title. Vedder was 15-10-3 going into those 3 title fights. Whoever was getting him those fights, sure was a good manager. This guy got 4 World title shots and some fighters fight their whole career and never get close to one.

Juan Laporte lost a lot title shots but he won a WBC featherweight title. But damn how many title shots did he really deserve, apart from his great chin what else did he had to get that many title shots?

Feb 18, 1912 vs. Johnny Coulon: Lpts-20 (Bantamweight Title)
May 14, 1912 vs. Johnny Kilbane: ND-10 (Featherweight Title)
Jun 23, 1913 vs. Johnny Coulon: ND-10 (Bantamweight Title)
Dec 6, 1915 vs. Kid Williams: D-20 (Bantamweight Title)
Nov 5, 1917 vs. Pete Herman: Lpts-20 (Bantamweight Title)

Yaqui Lopez?

Yaqui Lopez robbed a few times?

John Conteh won by a mile on points. The SD15 on the record pages are wrong, it was UD15

Saad Muhammad and Carlos deLeon both stopped Lopez.

Is there any info on Yaqui´s two fights against Victor Galindez. Both fights were in Italy, not Argentina.

Golota went 0-1-3, it seems everybody forgot his fight with Byrd was a DRAW. However, if you include NABF, you may "improve" his record to 0-1-4.

No, I did not forget that Byrd v Golota was a draw. In fact I thought Golota actually won the bout. What I meant by him going 0-4 is that he had 4 attempts at the title without gaining a belt.

OMAR SHEIKA 0-4
OTKAY URKAL 0-3

"The Eastern Beast" John Brown is 0-4 in major World title belt attempts. 0-5, apparently, if you were to count the WBU.
