Randy Turpin suicide. Freddie Mills suicide. Davey Moore car. Victor Galindez auto racing. Tyrone Everret murdered by a girlfriend.Carlos Monzon car.Battling Siki murdered. Frankie Depaula murdered.Sanchez car. There are many more it seems as though fighters more than any other atheletes lead remarkable and often tragic lives. any others?

Al Bummy Davis took a bullet for his friend if I remember correctly.

There have been many to die tragically. Al Davis died after some hoodlums robbed a local bar that Davis use to visit and when going after the robbers he was shot and killed. Stanley Ketchel was shot and killed.

Several fighters have been murdered. Battling Siki was murdered. Many say that Chuck Wiggins was murdered as well by more than likely the police. I think old bare-knuckle fighter Yankee Sullivan was murdered in his jail cell, though it may have been called sucide.

There was a former champion that was killed by the Germans in WWII, though I don't recall his name.

There have been several suicides...a couple that come to mind are Kid McCoy and Billy Papke.

One of the most fatal occurences has been motor vehicle accidents...Jack Johnson, Chic Calderwood, "Irsih" Bob Murphy, Salvador Sanchez, Victor Galindez and I'm sure many more.

and the one murdered by the Nazis (earlier post) was Young Perez.

I saw a list of boxers who had died tragically outside thering a while back, but I can't locate it at the moment. If I do I'll post the link.

Billy Papke was a murder suicide. He killed his wife and then himself!

yes it is sadly, thats why they had a closed casket at the wake. only his very close friends and family knew why.

Eddie Melo died from a bullet wound, we know Melo was linked to the Italian Mafia for a long time at the time of his murder. Melo's murder was a mafia hit in Toronto Canada.

Also, Stewart Hilton, younger brother of Davey, Matthew and Alex died in a car crash along with his sweetheart back in 84. Stewart was 4-0 as a pro at the time of his death and lots of insiders said that Stewart was on the verge of becoming the best Hilton boxer of the family. I think he was something like 19 when he died. Very tragic.

I forgot to mention

Sergei Kobozev, 15 days after losing a split decision to Marcelo Dominguez, was kidnapped and killed by russian mobsters back in New York in 95. The police found him buried somewhere.

Bill "KO" Brennan was murdered by hoods outside his speak.

Bartley Madden took a mysterious fall from a 20th floor window of the US Treasury building.

Joe Goddard was shot dead during an election riot.

Al Palzer was shot and fatally wounded by his father trying to protect his mother from a bullet.

Jim Barry was murdered in a bar-fight in Panama.

Not a boxer, but part of boxing. Reffere Mitch Halpren commited suicide with a gun to his head. Somthing about his girlfriend, i don't recall.

Yes he was shot in a dance hall/bar by a Dominican air force sergeant who wanted to dance with his girlfriend and got angry when told to sod off....

James "Cowboy" Coker was murdered

Jesse James Hughes and Cody Koch were murdered also.

Also Eddie Machen and Zora Folley in strange accidents. Folley was horsing around with a friend at a hotel pool fell and hit his head. Machen fell off a second story balcony,possibly sleepwalking.

Cleveland Williams was hit by a car. I always heard that Eddie Machen was thrown off a balcony or out of a window over a gambling debt.

Jeff Simms was shot for the 8th time and killed him - Simms has been shot 7 times previously but survived each time

Duane Thomas - Shot over a drug dispute

Zorra Folley - Hit his head on the edge of a swimming pool and died

Sonny Liston - Some say the mob had killed him.

Gerrie Coetzee - Not a murder but was shot by an armed robber around 1998, luckily Coetzee pulled out his gun and shot him dead.

I understand Duane died quite suddenly a few years back. I don't know the details though.
