Was Rocky a good boxer, or he was a boxer with luck that caught great boxers like louis, walcott, moore and charles past their primes, most people agree that if louis and marciano qould had fought when joe was at his best would had benn another ko for joe. louis faced some boxers like marciano style. like godoy, galento, and maurelio. the 3 of them give joe a scared moment godoy in the first fight, galento scored a knock down and tamy maurelio almost ko louis when he connected early in the round, many people said that the referi would had let tammy continue with his attac but separate the boxers in a critical moment. now was maurelio, godoy and galento better fighters than marciano? coul rocky would had give joe a good fight in his prime?

Rocky would have been a tough fight for any top heavyweight in their prime. Especially boxers. Ali would have had a ton of trouble with Marciano, even the 1966-67 Ali. The only heavyweight at any point in history that I think would be a heavy favorite over Rocky is a prime George Foreman. Guys like Sonny Liston and Joe Frazier, maybe even Tyson, would have particularly given Marciano more trouble than guys like Ezzard Charles or Joe Walcott. Remember, Walcott was pretty much in his prime against Marciano, even though he was in his late 30s.

"Right place at the right time"!
At all Rocky Marciano is just one person. He can't change the time. Every time had his great persons and Marciano is in his time. One great man who beat all of them!
But what do you think if he never turned in profesional boxing and just stay in shoomaker business? Is there anybody on this questionable time who be like him? Then maybe this era not be "weak" in doubters mouth and ears?!
What do you think if the earth was square?

rocky in his own bizarre way was a very intelligent fighter in the ring. he used his "supposedly" disadvantages to his advantage. he was small, sloppy and crude. so he got himself into crouch and due to his ackwardness, people found him hard to hit with a clean punch. not just fighters but accurate masterboxer ring technicians. rocky used his incredibly short reach to his advantage by getting on the inside where he would have incredible leverage. he worked incredibley hard with charley goldman to improve his "boxing skills." he was crude and looked like a joke in the gym, everyone laughed at rocky. but he had a devastating right hand that was knocking everyone out. so instead of trying to make him into a polished slick boxer, goldman simply "polished" marciano from the crudest fighter ever to a crude ackward target giving marciano balance and some skill to go along with his slugger style. from what i hear of rockys early fights, he was a joke of a fighter. people at ringside laughed at this kid swinging wildly with his short arms and falling down after missing. the huge propsects that marciano was thrown in against at the time were far better than him at that point and they would just jab his face off until BOOM! overhand right and the fights over. once goldman took up rocky after rockys 15th pro fight, he started to become a much better fighter and developed a very good left hook.
moore was in his heavyweight prime(i rate moore top 40 hw of all time) when he fought marciano. walcott was in his prime. joe louis was well well past his prime but still a top contender. charles was past his prime but fought one of the best fights of his career in the 1st marciano fight and was a very dangerous top contender.
-i think a prime joe louis stops rocky. but it would be a great fight and i can see both men getting floored. people dont realize louis got knocked down a lot more to being off balance than not having a chin. louis had a very good chin and took punches from hard punchers without coming close to being knocked out. godoy whos smiliar to rock gave louis a lot of trouble in the first fight, but blackburn taught louis how to beat a crowder and guy in the crouch and in the rematch, louis demolished galento. perhaps this fight could go the distance due to rocks chin, but his willingness to trade and the effect of louis punches i think will be too much for rock.
but one question u got to ask urself is this, why is it that a crude, sloppy, wild fighter who was the exact opposite of a willie pep was able to beat hall of fame accurate master boxers ring technicians??? u dont beat these guys without SOME KIND of skill.
archie moore once said "no man past present or future could slug it out with marciano and come out alive."
besides a couple exceptions like foreman, louis, etc i agree with moore.
just think, a sloppy crude 5'11 185lb man with only a 67" reach becoming an undefeated heavyweight champion all time great. it can be said never did a man with so little accomplish so much. out of all the heavyweights in the history of heavyweight division, only one man has won the heavyweight title and retired for good with zero losses on his record.
joe louis, ali, foreman, frazier were groomed to be champions. marciano didnt even become a pro fighter until after the age where all these guys WON HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPS. marciano was thrown to the wolves in his early fight and if it werent for his right hand, he would have lost all of them. he was laughed at in the gym, he was called a clubfighter at best. but goldman and weill saw something in this philsburydoughboy. they saw he had incredible strength, had a right hand that could knock anyone out, and he had a dedication to working hard and learning far above other people. marcianos story to the long road of being an all time great is a fantastic one and i suggest reading his new biogprahy and edited version that just came out "biography of a first son rocky marciano", its a more expanded version than the 1977 version. a marciano is the rarest breed u can find.

You are right in everything, brockton blockbuster, lets put it this way,a prime Louis tko rocky on cuts or by decision, but always the luck factor favored Marciano if Marciano would had caught Louis with the same right hand that he ko Walcott. the fight would be over. lets put it this way, rocky by ko in the 13 round behind in all the scorecards and almost ready to get tko himself. louis with his back against the ropes is ready to throw an uppercut and marciano launched his devastating right in to joe's jaw, and the fight is over.
