Looks like Harrison v Guzman is definetly on.

Seems like a pretty honest response from Maloney, he obviously didn't want his man to take on Guzman, full marks for Scott and Peter Harrison for sticking to their guns.
As Maloney said, the managers job is to talk fighters into taking the path of least resistance, a champions is to take the path that leads to greatness. Win or lose Scott's got my respect for taking on Guzman and not trying to find a way to avoid what looks on paper like his best opponent.
If Scott does manage to blow Guzman away, what assessment do we make of his career to date?

I have not seen Guzman fight but on paper any sort of win is a good one for Harrison, good on the Harrison camp for taking on the best fight rather than aim for another Samuel Kebede or a weak champion at a higher weight.
What we make of Harrison's career to date is a tricky question i think, he looked excellent dethroning Chacon, beating up McCullough and working out and stopping Abelyan but his loss and draw to Medina and Polo respectively still lie heavy. Harrison's inability to deal with slick boxers and movers will be his downfall although he does seem to have regressed somewhat technically since the first Medina fight. Gone was the controlled aggression and accuracy and replaced by a full speed ahead punching machine and with his tightness at the weight thrown in it doesn't suit him.
Styles make fights of course and maybe the likes of Chacon, Santiago, Estrada were made for his style, movers are not.

Scott isn't blowing Guzman away. Guzman's got skills, he just doesn't use them and is content throwing bombs. I'll be interested in seeing Guzman at this weight. Brodie displayed just a bit of slickness in his fight with Harrison and for a while it looked like he was going to box Scott head off...

Good point left hook, it is interesting to think if only Brodie wasn't such damaged goods he could have kept up the tactics he used early versus Harrison because he was having the better of some of the exchanges and making Harrison look ponderous. Maybe the Brodie pre-Chi 1 would have been able to keep it up but Chi just seemed to knock the final bits of punch resistance out of him.
Similarly if only Abelyan had stuck to his early gameplan and boxed instead of electing to trade and getting whacked out of there, things may have got interesting. It's all ifs and buts of course but Harrison HATES movers! Polo showed us that and so did Medina. If Guzman targets the body and gives Harrison plenty of angles i see Scott struggling.

"I haven't been hurt in any of my other fights so he definitely won't knock me out.

I know he has to say something like this but anyone who has seen his last few fights knows that he has been hurt in just about everyone of his recent fights.
I like Harrison, seems to have a good attitude (when it comes to training and fighting the best, that is). He knows his limitations but still tries to fight the best fighters.

Yes, Smit - and Medina had him in trouble a few times in their first fight if memory serves me correctly.

Man Harrison's a freak.
The weigh in he looks dead everything sucked in and drained and the next day he's like a bodybuilder and has fully recovered from it!
Whos this Guzman fought then to be considered a legit WBO champ?

Yep I noticed this as well....however, maybe he means he hasn't been stunned. He has definetly been hurt by body shots, and by Polo was knocked all over the place, but in that instance it was more tiredness than anything else. Had Polo had a killer punch though, I don't think Scott would have finished the fight.

Hes been a WBO champ when he beat the late Agapito Sanchez and won an eliminator against a sack of turd or turdsack

Anyway aren't the words Legit and WBO mutually exclusive?
Yep Terdsak....what a name.

Thought people here didn't consider WBO legit so what makes him good for Scot?

My money will be on Guzman, hopefully I will get some decent odds as Harrison will no doubt start favourite.

This has the makings of a barn burner if ever I saw one.
Conventional wisdon says that anyone who trades with Scott (apart from the very best) is playing into his hands.
As many quite rightly point out the movers like Medina, Polo etc have caused him the bigger problems.
So, using that rationale Scott beats Guzman, however after watching Guzman I would not be surprised if he is too much for a weight drained Harrison. Is Guzman a puncher at 126?? thats a good question I would suspect yes.
However I have written Harrison off before and the guy has proved me wrong before - guys I can't make my mind up about this fight, at this point i lean only very slightly towards Harrison but I have change dmy mind 3 times already and will change my mind again.
Great fight and the first 3 months look good for us british boxing fans!!
All we need now is the Naz fella to come back!!!!

March is looking like the best month for UK boxing in years, maybe ever.
Has there ever been as good a two fights in the UK as March 2006? This plus JC/Lacy are both near 50/50 top class fights.
June last year was good, but Harrison has a much harder fight here than v Brodie.
There's a good chance Guzman could prove a nasty shock for Harrison - but this is the toughest fight so far for both of them, and Maloney is right - this is a great fight.
Plus Nelson/Enzo too.

Used to be a time in the mid 90's when you could get this in one evening, pretty regularly.

Sod the WBO belt, Guzman is near his peak, hungry, has good skills and can punch...

agreed but harrison will come in at near welter and guzxman is a super bantam really.
its almost strength vs real punch power.
good scrap on paper but i dont think its as clear cut as people make out in favour of guzman .

Yep.
In September 95 alone we had Naz vs Robinson and Bruno vs McCall.

And we should be grateful for that?! Fair play to Frank for finally claiming a portion of the title, but in contrast to Hamed Vs Robinson it was a dire fight.
Heh...

If Guzman does anyhting less than TKO/KO Harrison or box him silly, all Guzman supports should be in shame...
Unless...
It becomes a Corrales-CAstillo (first fight) like-fight where Guzman comes out the winner.
If Guzman wins a close fight I would be quite disappointed. Guzman should KO/TKO the guy but he's talkin' about how he doesn't want to use his power as much anymore...

What utter rot.
Guzman has been a killer at Super Bantam, but he has no pedigree at Feather, and Harrison is a massive featherweight, he's really a light welterweight come fight night. Harrison also has a good chin, so if Guzman doesn't stop him there's hardly any shame in that.
As J rightly said, this is far from clear cut, as we don't know whether Guzman is the goods at Feather.

Harrison would be hungry too after looking like death on the weigh in. :P
Good skill didn't mean much to guys like Mc Cullough and Brodie when they were really fighting a Welterweight!
Harrison's chin will take his punch.
So how has Guzman proved himself?

Utter rot???
Don't be surprised if Guzman's the bigger man come fight night...
In one of his fights, he went from 122(weigh in) to over 140 fight night.
This is quite clear cut who'll win. The only way it's not is if Harrison is still on his feet come 8th round, Guzman'll prob. tire like he usually does and the judges steal the decision from Guzman.
Guzman's gunna win this fight. If he doesn't, I don't ever wanna hear from this man again.
(Unless the decision was a robbery or it was a Cas-Cor 1)
