Michael Gomez and the Irish card.

Just a couple of questions on this intriguing looking bill on at the end of the month.

1) Does this mean that Gomez is no longer associated with Sports Network? It says on Boxrec that he is still managed by them, but I would have thought he would have featured on his bill on the same day.

2) Is this bill being televised in Ireland, if yes - is it possible to get this channell on Sky?

Well its on RTE in Ireland live that night at 10pm.
They are showing Dunne - Wilders and Gomez - McDonagh live.
I dont think there is any way the channel can be got on Sky

RTÉ is on the Irish version of SKY(RTÉ 1 is on channel 101 and RTÉ 2 is on 102( though , if you know anyone with an Irish sky card im sure they might be willing to swap for a while as you cannot get channel 4 on the Irish Skycard and you have to go to other channels to watch ITV1 (it has no channel number)

Gomez hasn't mentioned Sports Network once in the run up to this fight , so it doesn't appear like his split with them and if he has it probably has been sports networks doing .

is it possible that it will be on eurosport or even sky sports at a later date?

I would doubt it would be on Sky Sports at a later date, I know its not a SN show - but cannot see Sky interested in showing a Gomez fight if he is still affiliated with Frank.

Eurosport is more likely, it might be wise for the promoter to try and get something there. Its a card that is worthy of bigger exposure.

Could the promoter try and get a deal with Setanta - do a Earl vs Bennett style PPV - exclusive to the UK. Setanta I believe is an Irish based firm and if it was reasonably priced and repeated I would pay for it. Reason why I want it repeated is that it is clashing with the Sports Network bill.

Infact, I might e-mail them.

A Setanta deal is unlikely , Bernard Dunne has become a poster boy for RTÉ of late and they will be the ones to secure the rights to the card .

It is unlikely for Eurosport to show this as they have never shown an Irish card (in recent years anyway) before .

Can't Setanta and RTE work on this together, especially as RTE isn't shown here. Can't they what Sky does with the US card or something?

its a shame if this card is not shown over here, people want to see gomez and dunn fight, i think it would get good viewing figures.

It would be hard , the two companies have worked together before (in getting rights for showing the Premiership and League of Irish football) but that was the Irish Setanta channel and RTÉ and they never showed the same thing at the same time (obviously) . The UK version of Setanta has never (within my memorary) worked with RTÉ and since the UK version of Setanta can be viewed here (through subscription) RTÉ might feel they would be competing with Setanta .

Not to mention the card is only 10 days away . So it's about as likely as Brian Magee losing his fight on the card .
