are next on the hit list and one will be confirmed as an opponent in may either in Vegas or MSG NYC.

Then Mayweather after that later in 2006...

I predict:

Hatton TKO 8 Corrales (Chico is too open and would get caught)
Hatton UD Gatti (Would have to be at a catch weight, would be a hell of a fight dispite poor performance against PBF)
Hatton UD Castillo (Again would be a great fight but I give power and workrate to Ricky)
Hatton TKO 7 Freitas (Freitas would start fast but will get tagged by a body shot and crumblr mid to late rounds)

And the big one.....

Mayweather SD Hatton. (Actaully think this would be a very close fight, both fighters have the conditioning to keep up a silly workrate for 12 rounds)

Against:

Freitas - too small couldn't beat the best at 130 won't hang with the top5 at 140

Corrales - interesting, similar to the Zoo fight but Corrales would work harder, have more in his arsenal than a straight right and defend himself better. Actually may resemble Castillo-Corrales, I see it a tight fight, I'd pick Hatton as a 65-35 favourate but Corrales could certainly KO anyone (corrales wifes got a baby due for April and he doesnt want any big fights prior to that)

Castillo - Hatton has better - speed, footwork and maybe workrate, Castillo has a tighter defense, slightly better power - would be a great fight I'd say Hatton wins a UD 7-5, Castillo could win but I doubt it

Mayweather - PBF UD 8-4 in a negative fight

I wanna see Hatton-Castillo @ Light-Welter - that would a mega-fight, a fight to behold!

Would you people make me right if I said Hatton would be a slight favourite if the fight were to happen? However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Castillo win?

Both Hatton & Castillo are two of my favourite fighters.

For me, it's a very close match-up. How do you guys see a fight between them panning-out?

Castillo is a hard fight I think. I think Hatton would do well to work the body, because Castillo seems to eat shots to the head for breakfast. Corralles is a much more concussive puncher than Hatton, though of course, Castillo has never been in with someone as physically strong as Hatton, so who knows what effects Hattons shots might have.

Hatton probably wouldn't outweight Castillo much on fight night, maybe as little as 4 lbs.

Corralles interesting too, I think Corralles has the power to hit and hurt Hatton, he's such a huge puncher and with his frame will probably carry his power on up the divisions. He probably would be pretty strong at 140, though his legs are pretty skinny, he is broad shouldered and naturally muscular.

Both great fights, favour Hatton slightly in both, might walk through Corralles, but there's always a risk of getting badly hurt. Cannot see him having an easy night with Castillo though.

He left Witter behind a long time ago. junior is ripe for a loss.

He is says Witter's going to have to pick up a title before he fights him . So if Junior Witter manages to win the WBC title he will get a shot at Hatton .

Firstly Blue I think you came to the brit forum to troll, but I also think that Witter is a step down for Hatton, especially after his last couple of fights.

Blue: this subject has been debated endlessly but I just don't see the logic in how someone that fought Kotsya Tszyu can be deemed to have run from Witter.

Yes, he should have fought him about 3 years ago when they were up and coming, but Witter didn't do him any favours. He has no real fan base in this country. The money that both fighters would have wanted from the fight simply wasn't there - it is economics, not fear that meant the fight didn't happen

I think Hatton - Freitas would be an exciting fight while it lasted

castillo is fighting in feb
corrales is injured and due to fight castillo against when he returns
gatti needs to get past daamgard (not as easy as some might expect)
Fretias - available and looking for a payday

HOWEVER

how can we know its one of these 4 names when Hatton is yet to sign with a promoter? Wont it still depend on who he signs with?

My guess is they're (whoever they is) hoping Gatti gets past Daamgard without any cuts bumps or bruises.

Hatton-Frietas would be exciting and Hatton could get hurt early on. I would expect him to win this by stoppage however.

Hatton-Castillo would be an excellent fight, far better than Hatton-Mayweather in my opinion (as a spectacle).

Hatton-Corrales - maybe before Corrales-Castillo II. Since then I find it hard to see anything other than Hatton putting him out cold.

Hatton-Gatti - before Mayweather got to him this one would have been reasonably competitive on paper. Now I would be afraid if this happened that Hatton could actually kill Gatti in the ring.

My money's on blown up Super-Featherweight Acelino Freitas.
The others are obliged.

I think you'll find Freitas started his career at Lightweight and boiled down to 130 for a title opportunity. He fought at Lightweight as an amateur. Get your facts straight!

Ah right, so Mr 'I know more than 99.99% of everyone else out there about boxing' must have had a .01 moment I guess....?

apparently, so an american colleague has informed me, corrales is NOT obliged to fight castillo in his next fight and corrales will be back in full training in 3 weeks time.

IMO Gatti if he beats Daamgard, if not fretias but who knows... wasn't corrales v hatton mooted after hatton beat tszyu ?

Hopefully not the recycled Gatti, who's comebacks are starting to remind me of Jason in Friday 13th.

Seeing as Hatton said on the radio he's hoping for an announcement next week, maybe it's not going to be Gatti, as he has his fight at the end of the month - and might lose.

Freitas would be a hard sell - he was 132 last time out - what the hell has he done to get a shot at 140? He didn't even do a helluva lot at 135.

Hatton must be tempted by a step up to 147 as well - has there ever been an easier shot at getting an undisputed world welter title?

If Gatti wins its Gatti - Gattis a huge draw and its huge money for relatively low risk. If Gatti loses they may fight him anyway but will probably look too Freitas who did little at 135 and nothing at 140.

He threw in those names just to pump it up a bit. We all know Gatti will always be his first choice. This is how team Hatton operates, it's not the first time.

He was 139 last time out  hasn't been at Lightweight since his loss to Corrales

He'd have to fight 4 times to become Undisputed at 147  (Well going by the reasoning that undisputed should mean that he holds all the major belts). Baldmoir only has the WBC belt

Oh, alphabet belts. Baldomir has the linear title. That's really all he needs, all that should matter.

Perhaps but what about those who felt that Margarito was the best fighter in the division anyway?

Judah still has the IBF title so could mean Mayweather v Judah will still go ahead as planned?

Margarito = paper champ, top contender

Judah = paper champ, tool

According to a report in the London Times, WBA/IBF light welterweight champion Ricky Hatton will likely sign a three-bout deal with Dennis Hobson and an American company, believed to be Banner Promotions. The paper says Hatton’s next bout would be in late April or May against Naoufel Ben Rabah, his IBF mandatory. In addition, Hatton reportedly will bypass an offer from Golden Boy Promotions that would have put him on the May 6 super card in Las Vegas featuring Oscar De La Hoya vs Ricardo Mayorga.
